Heretical Knights are specialist Knights seen in the Pit of Heresy, where they defend the "Ritual of Suffering" within the Scarlet Fortress's depths, retaining the occult energies used in the Hidden Swarm's heretical rituals. They are crucial to the aforementioned encounter and the "Tunnels of Despair" encounter.
Gameplay[edit]
In the Tunnels of Despair encounter, Heretical Knights will have to be found in three chambers scattered across the area. They will be found alongside Revenant Acolytes and hordes of Thrall. Once they are slain, they will drop a charge of Void energy that has to be deposited at one of the gates to clear a rune.
In the following Ritual of Suffering encounter, an Heretical Knight will arrive periodically from one of the Tunnels and lurk around the area. Players have to kill the Knights for their charges and deposit them in the point behind the totem. Once enough charges are deposited, the barrier will open, and remaining Knights will teleport away.
Swordbearer versions reminiscent of Accursed Swordbearers appear alongside Zulmak, Instrument of Torment. Similarly to Accursed Swordbearers they drop Cleavers that can be used in order to destroy the various entities around the arenas: the Might of the Broken Blade, the Omen of the Broken Blade, and the Oracle of the Broken Blade. The player must melee, snipe, or reflect according to each of the mini-bosses respectively.
Trivia[edit]
- With the release of Beyond Light, the Accursed Swordbearers encountered alongside Zulmak, Instrument of Torment have been renamed to Heretical Knight. This is likely a developer oversight.
