The Marred are a Cabal subspecies composed for degraded Loyalist clones left by Emperor Calus to guard Athenaeum World VII. However, in time, they would be corrupted by the entity at the center of the Athenaeum Vault, known as the Interitus, into deranged monstrosities.

Structure

The Marred are created from Loyalist cloning vats that had been tampered with by age and the manipulations of the Interitus. As such, they are malformed and unstable, having excess flesh, weapons fused into their bodies and other mutations. Described as "more beast than Cabal" by Vurn, they are mindlessly loyal to the will of their master, often throwing themselves into battle with little regard for self-preservation.

Unique Forces

Skutler — Mutated Psions who have lost their minds to degradation. They are nimble sharpshooters that can climb on walls and ceilings to fire at enemies from above. Savage ― These mutated Legionaries are armed with two Wrist Blades and will mercilessly charge at enemies. Freak — Deformed Phalanxes that have a War Beast clone attached to its shield. Mutt — A deformed cloned War Beast attached to the shield of a Freak. If the Freak is killed before they are, it will break off the shield and charge players, using their sharp teeth to attack. Bloat — A massive unstable Barant clone that lumbers to enemies and explodes, dealing massive damage, when close enough or damaged.

Nocuous — Mutated Incendiors that wield cannons that launches toxic sludge taken from their polluted clone vats. Hulk — These hulking deformed Colossi can enter a berserk state after their helmet is shot off with enough precision damage, becoming stronger and throwing away their weapon to relentlessly charge any Guardian. Archegos — Corrupted Centurions and commanders of the Marred that are more armoured compared to other Marred in impersonation of their Loyalist predecessors and possess slightly more intelligence than standard troops. Sibyl — Corrupted Psions that, due to their powerful Psionic ability, give them a greater connection to the Anomaly than other Marred. With it, they are able to shield themselves by tethering to lesser enemies.
