Echoes are objects of Light and Dark made from the Witness' memories after its defeat in the Pale Heart.[1]
Overview[edit]
After the Witness' defeat within the Pale Heart of the Traveler, several anomalous objects holding immense power[2] exited from the portal on the Traveler and the Valence, with Crow reporting to Zavala that one of them was seen heading towards the area between Jupiter and Neptune at relativistic speeds, before stopping in the orbital path of Nessus.
Based off the reports from the Guardians attempting to retrieve the Echo, it was learned that this particular Echo has the ability to compelled, control and command. Currently very little is known of what memories that this Echo is comprised of, with the current one being a forgotten race that has long since been extinguished by the Witness.[citation needed]
