Class Ability
From Destinypedia, the Destiny wiki
Class Ability is a type of ability introduced in Destiny 2. Class abilities are used by the three classes of Guardian to occupy a specific role.
Overview[edit]
Class abilities, as the name implies, are abilities that are specific to each of the three main classes, Titans, Hunters and Warlocks. Class abilities are usable as part of a Subclass, but unlike Grenades, Melees and Supers, they are not Subclass specific and perform identically across all subclasses, without alteration from Aspects. The exception to this are the Thruster, Acrobat's Dodge and Phoenix Dive abilities, which are exclusive to Striker Titans[1], Gunslinger Hunters[2] and Dawnblade Warlocks[3], they are also available as part of the Prismatic Subclasses.[4][5][6] Titan class abilities typically take up an offensive role, whilst Hunter class abilities usually occupy an evasive role, and Warlock class abilities often fill a supporting role.
Titan[edit]
Towering Barricade[edit]
- "Creates a large barrier that can be used to reinforce a position with cover, and draws hostile fire when you stand behind it"
- — Ability Description
The Towering Barricade is available across all Titan subclasses. When summoned, it is identifiable by its tall, wide and translucent appearance. When summoned, the Towering Barricade serves as a shield against oncoming enemy fire, as well as that, it damages and disorients enemies that get too close to it, however those taking advantage of the Towering Barricade's cover must take note that excessive fire can destroy the Barricade. It's important to note the Towering Barricade cannot be shot through by default, meaning its function is primarily defensive. The Towering Barricade has a base cooldown of 1:41.[7] Any Titan that utilises a Towering Barricade provides a strong defensive line for their Fireteam.
Rally Barricade[edit]
- "Creates a small barrier that you can peak over while aiming down sights; increases weapon reload speed, stability and range. Draws hostile fire when you stand behind it"
- — Ability Description
The Rally Barricade can be utilised across all Titan subclasses. When summoned it is identifiable by its short, but wide, translucent appearance. When summoned it serves as a small shield against oncoming fire, it also damages and disorients enemies that get too close to it, those taking cover behind the Rally Barricade must note that it can be destroyed by excessive fire. Whilst it is not possible to shoot through the Rally Barricade, it does possess more offensive capabilities than the Towering Barricade, this is due to the fact the Rally Barricade is short enough to shoot over and increases the reload speed, stability and range of the weapons belonging to anyone taking cover behind the Barricade. The Rally Barricade has a base cooldown of 0:55.[7] Any Titan that provides a Rally Barricade for their Fireteam gives them improved defensive and offensive capabilities.
Thruster[edit]
- "While grounded, quickly evade in a lateral direction."
- — Ability Description
Unlike the Towering Barricade and the Rally Barricade, the Titan's Thruster ability is exclusive to the Striker[1] and Prismatic Subclasses.[4] Once triggered, the Titan will do an 8 meter dash in the direction they are moving. Thruster has a base cooldown of 0:52. Any Titan that uses Thruster gains a strong mobility option that proves useful in fight or flight situations.

The Healing Rift heals wounded Guardians that stand within it, Guardians who stand in a Healing Rift whilst at full health gradually gain an overshield. Healing Rift has a base cooldown of 1:59. [8] Any Warlock that provides a Healing Rift brings a strong supportive and recovery option to any Fireteam.
Empowering Rift[edit]
- "Conjure a well of power that increases weapon damage and ability energy regeneration for those inside it. Defeating combatants while standing in the Rift grands additional ammo generation"
- — Ability Description
The Empowering Rift is available across all Warlock Subclasses. Once conjured, it is identifiable by its glowing circular shape and white energy that aggressively swirls around the Rift. Guardians that stand within an Empowering Rift gain an increase in weapon damage[8] and ability energy regeneration. As well as that, defeating combatants whilst inside the Rift grants additional progress on the ammo generation meter.[9] The Empowering Rift ha a base cooldown of 1:59. Any Warlock that provides an Empowering Rift provides a strong offensive support for their Fireteam.
Phoenix Dive[edit]
- "Dive to the ground and create a burst of Solar Light that cures nearby allies"
- — Ability Description
The Phoenix Dive was initially an ability within the Attunement of Flame path on the Dawnblade Subclass[8] but was later made into a class ability with the release of Solar 3.0.[3] Unlike the Healing and Empowering Rift, Phoenix Dive can only be used as part of the Dawnblade and Prismatic Subclasses [6] and can only be activated whilst airborne. Once activated, the Warlock will dive to the ground and unleash a burst that heals and cures both themselves and their allies. Phoenix Dive has a base cooldown of 1:20. Any Warlock that utilises Phoenix Dive gives their Fireteam quick support that proves useful in dangerous situations.
