Axis Hobgoblins are a more lethal variant of the standard Hobgoblin chassis. They are seen in various Patrols, Public Events, and Missions regarding the Vex. Like most Major class enemies in Destiny 1, Axis Hobgoblins bears the same appearance as the normal Hobgoblins, except their health bar, which is colored yellow rather than the normal red. Axis Hobgoblins are also resilient against certain weapons.

Axis Hobgoblins return in the Destiny 2 expansion Curse of Osiris, where they appear as Elite enemies on Mercury and in the Infinite Forest in place of Sol Collective Quantum Hobgoblins, they are also identical to them in appearance.
