Using his terrible power, [[Oryx]] creates a new army called the [[Taken]], and lays siege to the entire solar system. The [[Awoken]] fleet attempt to stop him before he can enter the Inner System, but they are utterly destroyed~~, with few survivors~~. He then starts Taking the [[Cabal]] stationed on [[Phobos]] ~~one of [[Mars]]'~~, which catches the [[Vanguard]]'s attention. Responding to a distress signal, the player is sent to investigate. Upon seeing the devastation, the player is confronted by a vision of [[Oryx]], who tells the player that he is there to pay back humanity for his son's death. There, he confronted the Guardians with his full might, even pulling them into a Darkness dimension. But in the end, using Light [[Warpriest|stolen]] [[Golgoroth|from]] [[Light-Eater Ogre|his]] [[Light-Eater Knight|pawns]], Oryx was slain permanently.

The Fallen [[House of Devils]], while looting ancient tombs from the [[Golden Age]], accidentally unearth a self replicating nano-technology plague known as [[SIVA]] within the depths of the [[Cosmodrome]]. This plague mutates the ~~[[Devil Splicers]]~~ into powerful machine gods which collapsed [[The Wall]] in [[Old Russia]], prompting [[Lord Saladin]], the last of the [[Iron Lords]], to personally lead the ~~[[Guardian]]s~~ in a final stand against the plague, raising a new generation of Iron Lords to guard the [[Last City]] once more. The player is first called on to defend an observatory immediately neighboring the ancient [[Iron Temple]], the fortress of the [[Iron Lords]], where it is discovered that an old [[Prime Servitor]], [[Sepiks Prime]], has been reborn using [[SIVA]]. This leads [[Lord Saladin]], his faithful scout [[Shiro-4]] and the [[Guardian]] to dig deeper into research on how to stop the [[SIVA]] plague. This leads the player into the very complex wherein the [[Iron Lords]] fell, and slaying three of the corpses that have been infused with the nano-technology. After the player defeats the remnants, he/she discovers a helm belonging to Lady [[Jolder]], one of the [[Iron Lords]]. It is traded with Saladin for a sword formerly exclusive to [[Iron Lords]].

The player, along with five other [[Guardian]]s traverse the [[Cosmodrome]] wall, defeating both [[Aksis]]' second-in-command as well as derailing a huge [[Siege Engine]] atop the wall. Once the fireteam has successfully completed both those challenges, they confront and defeat [[Aksis]] in his perfection complex, permanently ending the [[SIVA]] threat once and for all.
