'''Shaw Han''' is a [[Hunter]] operative working for the [[Vanguard]]. He is highly skilled and leads fireteams into dangerous missions throughout the [[Solar System]]. Four years following the [[SIVA Crisis]], he, [[Maeve]], and [[Cas]] were deployed in the [[Cosmodrome]]. Due to a rushed preliminary scan, the fireteam was assaulted by [[Hive]] led by [[Navôta, Eir Spawn]], and both Cas and Maeve lost their lives to the Hive Wizard. Shaw Han was the only survivor. Ever since, he has remained as the Vanguard's representative in [[Old Russia]].

Immediately before Io was Taken by the Witness, Shaw was on a mission with his fireteam deep in the moon's caves fighting the local Vex. Following these misadventures, Shaw posted a notice that he was looking for a new fireteam as he was walking through the Last City's streets. He came across an armor vendor, who sold him a [[Young Ahamkara's Spine|gauntlet-and-pauldron piece decorated with bones]]. As he tried the armor on, Shaw idly wished that he could be part of a reliable fireteam for a change.
