"And my vanquisher will read that book, seeking the weapon, and they will come to understand me, where I have been and where I was going."
The following is a verbatim transcription of an official document for archival reasons. As the original content is transcribed word-for-word, any possible discrepancies and/or errors are included.

Step 1[edit]

Bond with Strand sources, and participate in public events, patrols, and loot resources, all within the Vex Incursion Zone.

  • Area defended: 100%
  • Strand sources bonded: 2

"Maelstrom made her name pushing Vex out of the city. But she was strategic, too, always collecting resources and intelligence."
— Quinn

Transcript[edit]

A strange clue connects the Cloud Striders whose memorials were destroyed: Something they refer to as "The Occlusion." What it is or why the Vex want it remains a mystery, though.

Quinn asks you to try restoring the memorial to Sedderik Assur, the Cloud Strider known as Maelstrom. She was a war hero and tactician, so engaging the enemy and stockpiling supplies seem like the next logical steps.

Defend the city by participating in patrols and public events and loot chests to begin bonding with this legacy.

QUINN LAGHARI: I found Stargazer's algorithm in the data you recovered... except it's not an algorithm. They called it "the Occlusion". Ho ho, love this stuff! My data crawler also pulled some old Library records showing who else accessed Stargazer's archive back in the day: Maelstrom! She was the greatest military mind in history, AND she's one of our smashed servers. It can't be coincidence. If this "Occlusion" spooked the Vex, maybe Maelstrom kept a backup of it on her server. She was a warrior, so go start some fights!

Step 2[edit]

Complete the Lost Sector within the Vex Incursion Zone.

  • Lost Sector completed

A powerful commander has taken refuge nearby. Surely this is a test of any true warrior's mettle!

Step 3[edit]

Return to the Hall of Heroes to repair Maelstrom's memorial.

  • Memorial restored

A Maelstrom overwhelms all that stands before it, leveling the proud and creating new opportunity in its wake. You can feel this Cloud Strider's legacy within the cosmic web.

Transcript[edit]

The Guardian approaches the broken memorial which immediately reforms itself upon interaction. A voice from Maelstrom's memory plays out.

  • SEDDERIK ASSUR: This little electronic oracle may be useful, but I don't like anyone standing behind me, whether they've got a knife or not. So the question is, tear it out and let the whole network fall apart? Or leave it in... and maybe things get a whole lot worse?

Step 4[edit]

Return to Quinn to discuss the next steps.

  • Archivist visited

"Well, well, looks like Maelstrom's work is connected to the Occlusion too! Come see me when you get a chance."
— Quinn

Transcript[edit]

"My data crawler's running hot! Maelstrom accessed the Occlusion a lot. She called it a 'simulation echo.' But it's not a saved file. It's hidden code in the CloudArk! She found it in Cloud Strider Bluejay's notes, so… you know. Kinda need his archive restored."
