The Keeper of Nightmares is a massive Taken Hydra. It appeared as a powerful and angry force seeking vengeance when its twin was killed. It would face defeat. But its fated to appear again as its twin has already suffered a 2nd defeat. However due to the nature of the Taken and who this Taken Hydra serves, patience seems to be the only thing preventing another encounter for now.
Gameplay[edit]
The Keeper of Nightmares is a very powerful Taken Hydra, it fights like others of its kind with its weapons and abilities. It has a few extra outside the ordinary like Pulverzing Stomp, and Blight Bomb. Its biggest threatening ability is it fights in an Oppressive Darkness Zone. It also summons Blights that increase the stacks of the Dark Haze debuff which increase the damage caused by Dark Fetor. Each Blight it summons will transform into a Blight Bomb when it casts that unless destroyed prior. When a Blight is destroyed before it becomes a Blight Bomb it leaves behind a Pool of Cleansing Light which removes all stacks of Dark Haze and heals all who step in it. However, it only lasts for 12 seconds. There will always be a Pool of Cleansing Light in the center of the arena, but it's guarded by the boss. This Pool when used will disappear for a time before eventually reappearing, similar to the pool of light in Templar encounter. Lastly it can also harass its foes when it's not pelting them with its Aeon Maul by summoning Acolyte's Eyes near the temporary Pool of Cleansing Light to tap targets cleansing with damage and if that wasn't bad enough it fires more than one Darkness Bolt at once, being capable of firing off 3 of them.
If the party ingenuously plants a Balefire in the center of the arena they can lock the Pool of Cleansing, there indefinitely. Doing this will also make the boss move to the edge of the arena instead of camping the center. There is no prompt to do so, so they must figure it out on their own. Should they do so it will provide a Tactical advantage against this mighty foe.
Trivia[edit]
- The Keeper of Nightmares appears as a Taken version of Pagouri as portrayed in some parts its model. It lacks some Tentacles but the ones it has plus its glow are tainted by Resonance as this Taken radiates Resonance more than any other Taken before it. Almost as if it was not Taken but rather plucked from the Sea of Screams and enhanced by the Witness.
- This is supported by the fact its identified as a Taken Primeval. A Taken born of the Sea of Screams and The Witness being a powerful source of Resonant energy.
