The exact origins of Kaniks' madness are unknown, but the horrors he witnessed within the Fallen House system may have driven his mind to crack. Some speculate that it was his harsh life within the [[Tangled Shore]] that drove him to insanity or he was always just mad and revelled in spreading destruction and chaos as he scattered vast minefields throughout the [[Reef]].

His madness cost the lives of many [[Awoken]] as he bombed various institutions such as the Origin Libraries to fuel his adrenaline high. His tyranny would end when he was captured alongside his fellow Barons and imprisoned deep within the [[Prison of Elders]]. 

Following the [[Red War]], Kaniks was freed by [[Uldren Sov]] and witnessed the murder of [[Cayde-6]] at his hand.<ref name="GIBarons"/> Later the Mad Bomber would meet his end at the hands of the Guardians who sought vengeance. Later he was resurrected by Fikrul, who now wielded the [[Echo of Riis]]. Alongside the [[Revenant Scorn]], he ambushed the Guardian as they fought in the fighting pits of the [[Revenant Fortress]]. Kaniks is arguably the least sane of the Scorn Barons. He behaves in a very childish manner, treating the Guardian's pursuit of him as a game, mocking the Guardian and Cayde-6 in an immature fashion, and generally speaking in a simplified manner. To further cement his childlike demeanor, his laughter is considerably more goofy and light-hearted than the insane cackling of Araskes or the boastful gloating of Pirrha. Despite his mindset, he is shown to not be completely incapable of reason or logical thought, as he seems to share Fikrul's beliefs regarding Guardian's relationship with the Eliksni, and has demonstrated that he regards the Guardian as a serious enough threat that he would detonate the entire area they're in to ensure their death.

===Target: The Mad Bomber===
Kaniks' main explosive weapon of choice is the [[Scorn Grenade]], which he throws at [[The Guardian]] to continuously bombard their position, breaking their shields in just a handful of explosions, and not taking much longer to outright kill them afterwards. 

He also moves rapidly and teleports to random locations as well, making him an erratic target. Occasionally, he will disappear from the area and transmat a [[Splinter Mine]], which will immediately kill all [[Guardian]]s in the vicinity if it is not defused. When defusing the mines, lesser Scorn units such as [[Screeb]]s and [[Ravager]]s will assault the player on all sides and must be taken care of. While fighting Kaniks, it is best to keep one's distance and remain mobile, to avoid the detonations as well as the Ultra Smash at close range.

===Kell's Fall===
Kaniks, the Mad Bomber is encountered in the Fighting Pit within the [[Revenant Fortress]] after eliminating the two [[Pit Enforcer]]s. These Pit Enforcers can only be damaged when the Guardian acquires the buff known as '''Revenant Empowerment'''. To acquire this buff, the Guardian must enter the [[Revenant Plane]] and slay a [[Pit Boss]]. Upon slaying the Pit Boss, two [[Revenant Essentia]]s will appear and must be slain to acquire the '''Revenant Essence''' buff that lasts for 45 seconds. Accumulating 10 stacks of '''Revenant Essence''' will convert it into '''Revenant Empowerment'''. With the buff acquired, the Guardian must return to the material plane and slay the Pit Enforcers to bring forth Kaniks to the arena. Identically to the Pit Enforcers, Kaniks will be shielded by Immunity that can be dispelled with the newly acquired buff by firing at the Baron. Throughout the encounter, Kaniks will continuously summon Scorn reinforcements and will possibly be assisted by [[Araskes, the Trickster]]. Once Kaniks is slain the encounter is complete. The door leading out of the Fighting Pit will open after the animation where Kaniks is resurrected by Fikrul with the Echo is concluded.
