Sense it is located on Venus there are going to be a lot of Vex, Vex are time traveling robots in the game. Ok so you have to go somewhere and you actually have to leave the game to go to it don't worry there are checkpoints BUT WAIT... The checkpoints don't stay there forever you will lose your save if you are gone for a certain amount of time but Bungie hasn't game a specific time. Bungie hasn't gave a whole lot of info to the raid bit if you have questions go to:

The Vault of Glass is a Raid located on Venus. It will be the only Raid available in Destiny at launch.

Gameplay

The Vault is said to be "the most challenging experience that [Bungie] has ever created," and that players who complete it would "earn Destiny's ultimate rewards."[1] It is a raid that will take "hours upon hours to complete."[2]

According to Eric Osborne, the entrance alone is a challenge in itself, taking his team "45 minutes to crack."[3]
