Glimmer appears to be a currency in Destiny. Glimmer can be used to upgrade weapons, though it is likely that it has other uses as well.[1] Slain enemies may drop Glimmer, as when Rixis, Archon Slayer was killed, he dropped multiple blueish-white particles.[1]
