The Duke MK.44 is a Hand Cannon in Destiny. It has a slightly slow rate of fire and a high recoil, but its shots are very powerful. Each single cylindrical magazine has seven rounds. There seems to be no bloom.[1]
Trivia
- The name is likely a reference to the 44. Magnum Mega Class from Marathon, an earlier Bungie game.
- The magazine size is an example of Bungie's favorite number, seven.
- The fact that the gun uses a cylindrical ammo cartridge is reminiscent of the Ronon Dex's Particle Magnum pistol used in Stargate Atlantis, which also uses a cylindrical ammo cartridge. The only difference is that the Particle magnum fires energy bolts, the Duke MK.44 fires projectiles.
