Brood Mothers are Hive Wizards that are in charge of brooding their spawn, and are acompanied by several Major Hive Acolytes and Brood Enforcers. Some can be seen when patrolling the Plaguelands, and have a chance to drop either a Splicer Key or a Splicer Intel Relay when killed.

Trivia

Brood Mothers were the only none-deity enemies that were able to sire their spawn, until the introduction of Brood Queens in Destiny 2.
