'''The Whisper''' is a [[Secret Mission|secret]] [[Exotic Mission]] originally found on [[Io]], which saw Guardians investigate a Taken anomaly hidden beneath the planet's surface. Completing this mission rewards the player with the [[Whisper of the Worm]] [[Exotic]] [[Sniper Rifle]].

====Normal version====
The quest could be triggered during any [[Public Event]] in [[Lost Oasis]]. While the event was active, you had to find and kill one of three bosses: [[Valus Ta'aurc|Ta'aurc, Aspect of War]], [[Drevis, Wolf Baroness|Drevis, Aspect of Darkness]] or [[Urzok, the Hated|Urzok, Aspect of Hate]]. Doing so would open a portal near [[Grove of Ulan-Tan]] that started the quest. The Whisper was originally released at a recommended light level of 300 for Normal and 400 for the Heroic version, and featured the Shielded Foes [[Modifier]].

Upon entering the portal in the [[Lost Oasis]], the fireteam would start in the [[Lost Sector]] [[Grove of Ulan-Tan]]. The quest was all about speed and precision since the timer is set to 20 minutes before the players are returned to orbit. There were lots of jumping puzzles with moving objects and [[Taken]] traps on the walls and the floor, which could launch a player off the platforms and force them to start over. After the jumping sections came a large room with several [[Taken Blight]]s where all enemies had to be killed to continue forward. This process repeated in the second and third room, with the latter featuring a large pit that the fireteam needed to jump down. This would lead them to the final room where several [[Blight]]s protected a number of foes. Killing the enemies and breaking the blights would summon Ta'aurc, Drevis and Urzok along with large amounts of reinforcements. Killing all three bosses would finish the mission and reward the participating Guardians with the [[Whisper of the Worm]].

====Heroic version====
After the completion of the quest, a Heroic version was accessible from the map of Io, but only when the original mission could be started. This mission had to be completed three times over three weeks to gain the [[Exotic Catalysts|Catalyst]] to upgrade it and to unlock the Exotic [[Jumpship]], [[A Thousand Wings]]. The Catalyst was unlocked by opening chests hidden throughout the mission. The ship was acquired by completing the Heroic quest three times with the Void, Arc, and Solar Singe modifiers.

====Normal version====
The reprised Whisper mission was released with recommended power level of 1810. The time limit has been extended to 40 minutes. After breaking the blight that blocks the pit to the final room, a loot chest is awarded. In the final boss room, one would initially find only a group of enemies with no blights, with Ta'aurc, Drevis and Urzok locked in [[Vex]] prisons connected with cubical [[Conflux]]es. After killing these foes, the confluxes become vulnerable and each can be broken to release the bosses in any order, even at the same time. Once all foes are slain, a new boss appears, a [[Taken Ogre]] named [[Tulgorh, Aspect of Agony]]. Tulghor is initially protected by an immunity shield connected to [[Taken Shield Weaver]]s, and once broken the Ogre will be damageabl. Once it loses some health, it will start summoning [[Shadow Thrall]]s, and at 40% health remaining it will resummon the Shield Weavers as well as several blights to obstruct the area. Once Tulgorh is slain, the mission is complete.

====Heroic/Legend difficulties====
The reprised mission also comes with a 1830 power Legend difficulty (renamed to Heroic after ''[[The Edge of Fate]]''). This version keeps the original 20 minutes limit, features the Shielded Foes modifier, as well as [[Overload Taken Hobgoblin]]s and [[Unstoppable Taken Phalanx]]es. During this version, if one has also gained the appropriate [[Quest]] from [[Eris Morn]], small floating blights can be found in certain areas, which can only be destroyed with Whisper of the Worm. Destroying all of these and then finishing the mission awards the player one Catalyst for each group. Additionally, there are 7 [[Oracle]]s hidden throught this version of the mission. Destroying them all awards both pieces of Whisper of the Worm's enhanced intrinsic and the [[Karve of the Worm]] [[Jumpship]].
