Drop pods are launched through an electrified rail system. *An early design of the drop pod can be seen in [[:File:Red legion warship concept.jpg|concept art]] for [[The Immortal]]. Known as the Ripper Troop Pod, it was oblong with two rows of "teeth" along a central seam. The pod would split in half along its seam on landing, unlike the final version.
*Drop Pods have become infamous and reached meme status due to them seemingly randomly falling out of the sky and killing players. This was referenced in the [[First Contact]] [[Mission]] in [[Lightfall]] where after [[The Guardian]] destroys and flees from the [[Vual Gaudium]] in a Drop Pod.
