It along with its manufacturer were destroyed by [[The Guardian]] in a showdown in the depths of the [[Jetsam of Saturn]].

| The Proto-Thorn was among the most dangerous weapons ever faced by the Guardians as it could drain the Light from any Lightbearer it shot, permanently killing them in one bullet. Unlike other [[Soulfire Rifle]]s, the Proto-Thorn did not need to charge and could be fired immediately, however it had a magazine unlike its mass produced counterparts and would've needed to be reloaded.
