Mattox-9 was a Guardian in service of the Last City and a participant of the earliest stage of the Red War. During the initial invasion, he and his longtime friend Lyria Graemer were tasked with rescuing the Speaker from Red Legion soldiers. While scaling the Tower, their progress was halted by Cabal forces on the ground, during which he was shot in the head and killed instantly.
Before his body could fall, Lyria caught the lifeless Exo and used their combined mass, as well as a rocket launcher full of grenades, as an improvised projectile to neutralize their attackers below. It is unknown if either of them survived the engagement[1].
