Mykel is the leader of the Acolytes of Nezarec, a group of individuals from various species who serve Nezarec, Final God of Pain.[1]

Biography

On the night of his 18th birthday, he experienced his first nightmare from Nezarec. The leader of the Acolytes of Nezarec recruited him to continue their legacy. For the initiation ritual, Mykel had to torture an Eliksni they had captured.[2] At some point, Mykel became the leader of the Acolytes of Nezarec and came into the position of the former leader's tome, Of Hated Nezarec.

Mykel began to search for new recruits outside of his own family leading him to a jungle where he found Acasia. She initially believed him to be a threat, but he was unarmed, so she let him take shelter in her camp for the night.[3] That night she experienced a nightmare of Nezarec taking away her partner. Curious, Mykel placed a hand on her arm and experienced the nightmare before being pushed back by Acasia. Mykel explained that he merely wanted to see her experience with Nezarec,[4][5] she showed him a vision of her partner being taken by Psions to be sacrificed.[6] Mykel than recruited her into the Acolytes of Nezarec, promising her Nezarec would free her partner if she helped revive him.[7]

Mykel came across the blind former Lightbearer known as Briar, who shared his nightmares with Mykel. Mykel offered a chance to feel Nezarec's power again and recruited him into the Acolytes of Nezarec.[8]

Mykel also heard of a Eliksni known as Koraxis who was suffering from the influence of Nezarec. He presumably recruited Koraxis into the Acolytes of Nezarec as well.[9]
