The Bombardment is the large-scale invasion of the Last City during the Dark Future timeline.

Prelude[edit]

Long before the Bombardment, the Vanguard had sent Guardians into the Black Garden to run cloak-and-dagger missions to suppress the Black Heart. However, the Darkness in the Heart only corrupted those who got close to it.[1]

After coming into contact with an artifact within the Lunar Pyramid, Eris Morn would also be corrupted.[2]

After the Pyramids arrived, Eramis would raid the Deep Stone Crypt. She would also acquire Stasis here and spread it.[3]

History[edit]

Under the orchestration of Eris,[2] Eramis, Savathûn and the Cabal attacked several City strongholds at once. Dark Guardians also took part in these attacks.[4]

During the attack, Savathûn would battle Zavala and call him "the nonbeliever" before tearing off one of his legs and draining his Ghost, Targe, of Light.[2] The Tower would also be destroyed, and Ikora Rey would be buried under it.[4]

In the end, the City would be left in ruins and the Traveler would flee.[4][2]

Aftermath[edit]

After the Bombardment, the Dark Guardians turned on Eramis and the Cabal,[2] the latter of which would flee to the service of Mara Sov aboard the Leviathan.[5]

While defending the City from the Witness's forces while prepping for Operation Ahamkara, Elsie coordinated with Lord Shaxx to pinpoint areas of the City to reinforce using her memory of how it looked in the Bombardment.[6]
