Husk of the Pit's primary draw is that it can be upgraded to the legendary auto rifle [[Eidolon Ally]] by killing five hundred points of Hive enemies and using an [[Embalming Orb]] obtained from [[Eris Morn]], and then further upgraded to the [[Exotic]] [[Auto Rifle]] [[Necrochasm]] using a [[Crux of Crota]]. Without being upgraded, Husk of the Pit is a sub-par gun for any character at Level 20 and above, although its damage output is substantially higher than any other weapon accessible by Level 10 character.

===Year 3 Gameplay===
Now acquired as a random drop from hive enemies it can be upgraded into Eidolon Ally by killing a multitude of hive [[thrall]], [[knights]] or [[wizards]].
