==Gameplay==
The Blightguard's main purpose is to protect the Brand Claimer buff. Killing them for it is fundamental for progressing the encounters they appear in. Quick burst damage weapons like [[Shotgun]]s and [[Fusion Rifle]]s, as well as high damage [[Grenade]]s and [[Melee]] abilities, are recommended to slay them.

They take part in the Basilica and Warpriest encounters. In the former, they appear on the side ledges next to the deposit plate, after a [[Hive]] [[Wizard]] that appears there is killed. They teleport in soon after, and should be killed as quickly as possible, as their Brand Claimer is fundamental to steal the Brand from the player currently standing under the [[Annihilator Totem]]. During the battle against the [[Warpriest]], they spawn in when the Brand of the Initiate is collected. One appears at the first plate stepped on, and another on the second. Their Brand Claimer is used to steal the Brand of the Initiate from the other players, which resets its duration and extends the damage phase.
