Very well, i will rearrange the mission, however we have to take into consideration that the Cabal might not have any worlds, and that the empire is nothing more than a fleet now traveling around, as Oryx came from outised the system as well, which very well might mean that the Cabal worlds were destroyed. I am not trying to be difficult, but if we are aiming for a fan fic on par with a real expansion possibility, then i would think we ought to consider everything Bungie would. I think what we could do, is have the Emperor fleet outside the system, and we have to complete the raid by downing his craft, which crashes on Europa. As the Emperor and the rest of the Cabal Empire flee, we confront your boss (Who is the equivalent of the Awoken Prince), where he is finally defeated, and the Cabal are repelled.

Okay, here is the timeline form, this should help you see where you can add things in between to connect these missions for the overall story arc:

  • Cabal try to sieze Fallen knowledge on the Vault of Glass. The House of Kings retreats further and further into City territory, promting the Vangaurd to send Guardians to investigate. The Guardians push the Kings back, and eliminate the Cabal on Earth.
  • The Cabal regather on Mars where they harbor an advanced A.I for their own personal gain. Anxious it may be a vital link to the terrestrial array, the Vangaurd send Guardians to look into it.
  • The Cabal capture the Hellmouth to gain access to The World's Grave, resulting in their subsequent attempt to take over Vault of Glass in order to summon Cabal Commanders and powers lost to the Guardians. After being forced to retreat due to the return of powerful Vex Minds, the Cabal are forced out of the Vault of Glass, and their offensive crumbles. Leaving the Guardians to destroy the Vex once more.

Now, with this timeline at your disposal, see anything we can add in between?

Sounds good, but i would not say eradicate the Fallen, rather attempt to seize Fallen knowledge on the Vault of Glass. As for the other A.I what if it is not a Warmind, what if we just had an artificial intelligence that the Cabal could repurpose for something? The only person who could tell me what they could do with an A.I is you.

Oh, i am going to start working on the timeline, that will help us map what we are working on, and it lets us see what we need to do, so would you give me the content we got so far?

Okay, but we already know that Charlemagne is dead, so this A.I is going to have to be different. So we need to come up with another idea for an artificial intelligence. Perhaps one that contains the location to another warmind, or maybe codes to connect Mars to the Terrestrial array?

That sounds logical, but what if they wanted the A.I directly? What might they use it for?

Oh, i did earlier today, and it sounds perfect! I like the weapon and character attributes. I will work on his lore and story background later (If necessary), but for now I also have one other question, if there was a Martian A.I, what might the Cabal want with it? I mean if they harbor an A.I for their own ends, what might they be? I ask because there might be a mission plot for this in the expansion, but i would need to know where the Cabal would stand on this matter.

Well yes, i see your point, but the Hellmouth is the only place where the Hive have the Grave of Worlds, which has information on thousands of planets worlds, and even the Darkness. Something the Cabal might want if they intend to conquer. (Might even tell of the destruction of their homeworld) They then have a good motivation to use the VoG. To undo what has been done to them. That would also be a reason for them to attack the Fallen, seeing that Skolas used the Vault, the Fallen know how to access the Vex tech and the Cabal needs their research. They then capture the Vault, and attempt to prevent the destruction of their world, as they begin pulling multiple Cabal Commanders through time. This is where you go back to the Vault of Glass, and destroy it before they can go back far enough to save their fortress World. With this though, they also pulled some vex through time, which quickly push the Cabal back. You then kill the vex minds again, and that would be that.

Good, i was thinking of a mission where we might need to do something with Cabal encryption. What did you think of the revisions i advised?

P.s since you know everything about the Cabal up to date, do they happen to have any sort of encryption?

Sounds pretty good so far, i would suggest the following changes though to make the story longer:

For one, we already know that the Fallen have very little to offer in terms of power and technology, so i would think it might be more strategical of the Cabal to outright begin destroying the House of Kings and crippling the Fallen, who as a result begin encroaching on City territory. The Vangaurd then task you with investigating what the motivation for this encroachment might be. You then discover the Cabal have wrested control over their lair and are pushing them further back. You are then tasked to stop the Fallen encroachment before eliminating the Cabal on Earth.

As for the Hive, the Cabal might try to capture the Hellmouth and be locked in an intense and bloody war with the Hive who are attempting to keep the Cabal from claiming their fortress and the secrets they have within. You then have to go through a bunch of missions to eliminate both sides. (Maybe doing something that will allow Rasputin to call an air strike?)

From there, you learn the Cabal have claimed the VoG and are pulling several armies from the past. Sky Burners, Psion Flayers, etc. When the Guardian goes to prevent this, it is already to late, and is met by powerful Cabal forces that cause his retreat.

By now, maybe the only way to beat the Cabal might be to either do like you said and go beyond the system, or, to get Rasputin connected with the Warsats once more and to mobilize their defenses to push the Cabal Back. Anyway, this part is just musings, but if you opt to go with the changes i listed, it might make it easier to write out those missions. Either way though, this is your show, just let me know though what we are doing so i can get to work on my part. I ma starting to feel useless here. :)

Hey Primus, just checking in. Do you want to tell me what you have so far? Maybe i might have some ideas, but would need to see what you have going first.

Ever thought of publishing your fanfiction on Fanfiction-dot-net?

Sounds good to me. Once we get the plot nailed, while i work the details, you create the weapon editions, perks, zones, light levels etc. When we finish i have an account with word press where we can publish the story as a fan fiction web site.

The other thing you might try when thinking up the missions is story progression. For example, when i was thinking of the story for my Game, which is basically about a character who lost their memory in the crash of their ship which was shot down by members of a mechanical race. With the character's rescue by members of humanity's military, the player's character joins them on a series of missions to discourage further death. However to achieve a mission plot, i had to see what the end goal was, and then break the plot into mission which would end in that final goal, and also hinder it. Either way, hope this helps in the mission creating process. Good luck!

Yes that was what i was thinking initially, but if you think about destiny's ten year span, killing off the cabal empire might not help in that if this is going for year 3/4 in destiny. Maybe just a high ranking commander sent by the emperor, as in history, a monarch like this would never come to a land until it was secured, or victory was near. So you might want to keep this in mind when devising these missions.

P.s Take it slow, come up with a quick mission list, and give it to me so i can map it all out, and then i can tell you where each mission can go, if we need new ones, and what else we will need to write if anything.

Well first, i have to say that your knowledge of the Cabal is impressive. I think however that you should probably consider the Cabal advancements on our system in a planetary order. For example, we should have the first mission at the edge of the system, with the player helping an a space battle, but then they get summoned back to Earth to defend the city from a Cabal attack by their forces on Mars, who have managed to secure vex tech already. Then you have to go on some other missions with dead orbit to keep the Cabal that are now near Europa from joining the Cabal near Earth. As for showing brute strength, then we should have a mission with destroying their fleet leader on his ship via a nuke, or something. Just some food for thought as you work out those missions. :)

Alright then, when you got a mission set, let me know...

Perfectly alright. Anyway, what i was thinking we could do is this, in the Taken King, the Cabal send a distress call to the Cabal empire, so at some point a backup army should be dispatched. So, in our story, it could pick up from there with the dead orbit fleet that was stationed there, detecting a massive Cabal fleet. The main objective is to cripple their forces and deter them from invading Earth. Now there can be several mission for this, which i will leave at your discretion. Once you work out what mission and actions might need to be taken to stop a Cabal fleet, i will make a basic outline, and we can get to work on a first draft. Sound Good?

I know, i would love to see the cabal make an appearance. Maybe we can write a cabal themed Fan fiction together?
