The Taken Path is an Exotic quest for Barrow-Dyad introduced in Episode: Heresy Act I.

Steps

"And my vanquisher will read that book, seeking the weapon, and they will come to understand me, where I have been and where I was going."The following is a verbatim transcription of an official document for archival reasons. Sloane inspects the osseous fragment carefully. Her Ghost Síocháin runs a scan over it, computing quietly. When she's finished, she and Sloane briefly confer over their findings. The Deputy-Commander looks worried for the barest of moments before she smooths it away under her accustomed confident demeanor.

"Strong readings of Taken energy, not surprising," she says. "Here's the interesting part. This-" She taps the fragment. "-has not one, but two specific energy signatures. Síocháin says it's in some sort of quantum-dyadic state. Two things at once, somehow. Apparently 'one thing hidden beneath the other' is a little too simplistic for how they're interlaced, but it's close enough."

Sloane shrugs and moves on to what matters. "On a hunch, I had Síocháin set up a broad scan for anything else that matches either signature, and she got a hit. On Luna- that makes sense, it's still crawling with Hive. The signal's blinking in and out, though, so you might need some extra help to track it down once you're there. My recommendation? It's Hive, so think like the Hive do. I'm sure there's some sort of sigil you can use to see through illusions and mysteries."

Sloane is quiet for a long moment, perfectly, eerily still. Finally, she hands the fragment back to you. "Keep this. I don't like it."

Step 1

Unlock and equip the Scotopic Rune.

Step 2

Find what the Hive are hiding somewhere in Sorrow's Harbor on the Moon. Bring the Scotopic Rune to lay it clear.

• Find something the Hive have concealed somewhere in Sorrow's Harbor.
  • Secret revealed

Step 3

Find what the Hive are hiding in the Forgotten Shore in the Cosmodrome. Bring the Scotopic Rune to lay it clear.

• Find the Taken Osseous Fragment the Hive have concealed somewhere in the Forgotten Shore.
  • Secret revealed

Step 4

Receive additional data from Sloane based on the Taken Osseous Fragments you've collected.

• The additional fragments you've gathered help point the way to new targets. Pick up the data from Sloane.
  • Shaping Slab visited

Step 5

Further Taken Osseous Fragments are protected by virulent warding curses. Overpower and break them.

• Break Taken protective curses to find and obtain more Taken Osseous Fragments.

  • Curse of Revenge broken

Step 6

Find one final Taken Osseous Fragment, acquire the weapon it leads you to, and complete the Exotic mission "Derealize."

• The last Taken Osseous Fragment will give you enough signal to locate and pursue a powerful Taken energy deep within the Dreadnaught. Its touch is already upon you, and others hunt it, too. Complete the Exotic mission "Derealize" and let none stand in your way.
