The Vex section of M.I.N.D. features entries related to the Vex.
Vex[edit]
The first extraterrestrial race that humans truly encountered.
As early as the Golden Age, when humans first landed on other planets in Sol, they discovered these strange robots often gathering around ancient ruins. Some institutions researched them and, surprisingly, found them capable of traveling through time and space. Even more chilling, though, is that they can achieve a certain degree of foresight and control over the future by creating simulations.
Virgo Prohibition[edit]
A Vex collective the Sand Eaters encountered when they first arrived on Mars and began their expansion.
The legion's commanders deemed the Virgo Prohibition's numbers to be low when they first exchanged fire, and thus went in the offense. However, the Virgo Prohibition immediately responded by summoning reinforcements from their network that far exceeded the Cabal's expectations. Interestingly, the number of Vex reinforcements summoned is always just enough to hold the front line in a fixed are, ensuring no extra force is wasted.
Programming Collectives[edit]
Groups of Vex that share a single consensus.
Although the Vex do indeed use a hive mind, there is not just one "brain" doing the thinking. Among the Vex are multiple chains of thought that govern different Vex collectives. The vast majority of thought chains do share some kind of consensus, but there are also situations where a certain collective contradicts the Vex's collective consciousness.
But us the emergence of such heresy intentional on the part of the collective consciousness? The answer is currently unknown.
Radiolarian Fluid[edit]
The biological components that make up individual Vex.
What few people know is that the Vex are not truly robots. Their metal limbs are actually just a kind of "shell," while their true "brain" is a group of microorganisms living in milky white radiolarian, all of whom share a collective consciousness.
Each individual Vex keeps this liquid preserved inside a solution chamber. Although the position of the chamber varies between types of Vex, damaging it reduces their metal exoskeleton's functionality.
The Vex Network[edit]
A massive simulated reality that transcends dimensions and spacetime.
The Vex Network is the final simulation of the universe as envisioned by the Vex. In this near-infinite space, the Vex conduct endless calculations. The Network transcends linear timelines, allowing the Vex to reach any timeline they wish via portals connected to reality. However, the presence of these portals means other organisms also have a way to enter the Network.
Confluxes[edit]
An extra-dimensional Vex construct used to connect their Network with reality.
They can be columnar structures composed of pure energy, or they can look like stone-encased machines. Regardless of form, they all function as a channel connecting the Vex Network and reality. Through these Confluxes, the Vex can gradually rewrite and replace real spaces with their own simulated scenarios, thus making arbitrary modifications to "reality."
Axis Minds[edit]
An individual Vex within the collective intelligence who has the authority to issue commands.
In most cases, a region's Vex collective is controlled by an Axis Mind, whose essence is a specific directive or purpose within the Vex's collective consciousness. They will not personally visit the battlefield unless the situation threatens this purpose. If by chance they do need to join the battle, they usually choose advanced combat units such as Minotaurs or Hydras as carriers.
