Grim tend to be very loose with their positioning. Usually, when they spawn in, they're around the middle section of the deployment, but will quickly fly to where they're most effective. Grim make the most of their Transitory Lance attacks as a swarm to quickly shred a Guardian's health. On lower difficulties, Grim fire tends to be used more as a pressure tool to prevent or prolong the regeneration process. If the Grim ever find themselves in close range, they will prepare and then let out a Screech, inflicting the foe with tinnitus for five seconds. Tinnitus slows the target, along with disabling a [[Guardian]]'s double jump and impairing their vision. If a Grim feels it is out of position it will use its aerial dodge to quickly swoop to another location, usually back with its flock or above more Dread.

Grim can enter an enraged state when fighting alongside a [[Harbinger of the Witness|Harbinger]] after entering its second phase after taking enough damage. Enraged Grim are far more aggressive, noticeably faster, and use their Screech from a more generous distance, making the most of its moderate range. Enraged Grim can easily be spotted by their now red eye, pitch-black color pallet, and spikes along the back of their neck. Grim will not return to normal upon their Harbinger commander's defeat.
