'''Scourges''' are supporting [[The Dread|Dread]] units developed by [[Forum:Skira, Judge of the Abyss|Skira]] to bolster her forces. Created from a template of a conquered and vanquished species, these Solar and Strand wielding entities provide both support and combat for their allies respectively.
==Overview==
Standing out from their compatriots like a sore thumb, these lanky feline creatures support their allies with esoteric powers projected from both quill and integrated pyramid tech. Depending on the variant, most Scourges stand taller than a [[Weaver]] and [[Attendant]]s hips. Their bodies are covered in pyramidal garb from legs to shoulders and neck to tails much like their fellow Dread allies but, much like the [[Grim]], their heads appear to be integrated with a piece of Pyramid technology either to enhance and/or subjugate the creatures to their commanders' control. Depending on the variant, the Scourge can activate this piece of technology to either support their allies or further attack their adversaries.

Although a seemingly strange addition to the ranks of the Dread, investigation into the Watcher's memoirs would suspect the origin of these creatures comes from the psionic and deceptive [[Forum:Gaodrea|Gaodrea]] species or, if not, the potential disciple of the species [[Forum:Schaozuñe|Schaozuñe]], who would be presumably killed or forced into servitude of the [[Black Fleet]] by Skira.
==Gameplay==
Being feline creatures, scourges are really only capable of attempting to outmaneuver and outpace their opponents and strike them down with their claws or pounce atop them; they also do have a ranged attack fired from their tech-enhanced maws, with Dirges firing a rapid burst of {{icon|Solar}} energy and Flayers firing a nonstop barrage of slightly tracking {{icon|Strand}} bolts. However, they do have other means of supporting their allies, depending on the variant.

The {{icon|Solar}} Solar charged Dirges are mainly concerned with supporting their allies by mainly healing or defending them. After a series of chitters, hissing and howling, the Dirge will summon a swarm of Resonant Binders that will seek out their allies and heal any wounds allocated to them. Sometimes, a Dirge will link up with a certain, individual Dread unit and, if any incoming attack targets their ally, the Dirge will form a barrier of solar energy blocking most attacks targeting their ally; sustained damage will break the shield and temporarily stun the Dirge. In the presence of multiple nearby allies, the Dirge will unleash a sustained, discomforting yowl that will heal and strengthen nearby Dread units, while also slowing and hurting enemy units; however, in this state, the Dirge's core will be exposed and shooting it will cause the Dirge to explode.

Meanwhile, the {{icon|Strand}} Strand-enhanced Flayers will mainly press into their opponents with attacks mainly meant to flush them out into the open. Usually upon opening engagement, the Flayer will shroud themselves in Woven Mail to protect most of their bodies from attack; their Woven Mail can deplete, but will replenish them shortly after losing it. A series of chitters and growling will release a small swarm of threadlings meant to damage and drive enemies out, and can do this attack fairly frequently. When nearby an unsuspecting enemy, however, a Flayer may not go into melee yet but, instead, charge up a Severing blast that will weaken their adversaries' means of attack. If facing a potential attack from an adversary while closing the distance, a Flayer may conjure a Replicant, which looks just like the Flayer to charge down their enemy; a Guardian may destroy the Replicant more easily, but destroying the Flayer themselves will also destroy the Replicant as well.
