Research Base Mamba is the 8th Experimental Companies main base. During Season of the Specters, not knowing who owned the base the Guardian attacked the Hands of Darkness that were infiltrating the base. Though they did not encounter Cabal, merely corpses. Later, in Season of the Virus we learned why the Hands of Darkness attacked. The 8th Experimental Company had access to secret knowledge about the Remnants. They were also making a Virus to wipe out Humanity. Which the Guardian had to stop.
