The Dreadlands are a far eastern region on Alfehein. This region was shaped by the Collapse as it happened, The Veil was placed in a vault below here. This place is a dark land that the forces of The Witness setup shop on. Lurking beneath their nose was both pieces to their master's plans; The Traveler and the aforementioned Veil.
Following the defeat of Ghaul, the Traveler would awaken and depart Alfehein moving to Sainus for unknown reasons. However the Veil would remain here unknown to outside world except by a select few.
