Plot[edit]

Nature of Power (Base Game)[edit]

Eventually after Renegades, Saint-14 flew to the Ishtar Sink to investigate the disappearance of the Sol Collective. Across the entrance of the Vault of Glass in the Waking Ruins, Sol Collective Hobgoblins were standing in rows near a newly-built triangular portal. Saint-14 started attacking the Hobgoblins and tackled one of them while going through the portal. After entering the other side, he was violently shot back through the portal by a Line Rifle from a new and mysterious Vex Collective, severely injuring him. Ikora sent The Guardian to spy on the activtiy. After seeing the newly improved Vex luring more Hobgoblins through the portal, the Guardian and their Ghost tries to race back to the Last City, only to be sent to a rift suddenly opening away from their timeline.

The main story starts to take place in a timeline where the Guardian and Ghost are stuck in a Harmony-like 21st century modern era, with the Fallen, Hive, Vex, Taken, The Dread, and a race that protects it. It won't take long until the previous notables now revived remember fighting the Guardian prior, and make the allied forces start trying to take them down for their new home. However, the Guardian would eventually find alliances before their main hunt, and regain communication with the Vanguard.

Development[edit]

Work began in May 2025, just two months after The Edge of Fate Expansion.

Destiny Bygone first released spoilers for the improved enemies on December 2025.

Bungie used the help of real-life locations and the history of Google Maps for the destinations that would support the plot. A fan mailed Bungie a list of enemies, their names, and their designs. Bungie decided to invite the fan for hiring. However, their name was not disclosed due to the fan's request. They also found a way for the servers to withstand the immense scale and details of the game.

Destiny Bygones marked a beginning working with Google when working on real-life locations in the present era, larger than the Google Stadia they were once with.
