The Astrodemons are a race of enemies introduced in Destiny 3.
Overview[edit]
Astrodemons are a deadly enemy race that exhibit mastery over the use of radiation to hunt their prey. This is due to the complete control over the electromagnetic spectrum that Fomosians have as a species. They inflict poison damage and reduce healing effectiveness on Guardians with ionizing radiation. They use heat attacks, using infrared radiation, to ignite Guardians.
History[edit]
The Astrodemons began as the inhabitants of the planet Fomosa. Their planet was united under a single technocratic government which was headed by their king, the most esteemed scholar, elected by the high council. After being discovered by the Ecumene and learning of the many different species that existed among the universe, the high Fomosian council deciding to prepare contingency plans for an evacuation should the need ever arise. After thousands of years, the Fomosians would encounter the Zorpalods, which had recently joined the Ecumene.
Some time prior to the Hive-Ecumene war, the Fomosians would eventually be nicknamed the Astro-Daemons, for their proficiency in navigating the cosmos. Not long after, during the war, Xivu Arath noticed the efforts they made to evacuate and set her sights on the planet. Many Fomosians were decimated in the battle and only a quarter of their population was able to evacuate safely.
Witnessing this devastation, they pledged themselves to same goals as their allies, in their desire to rid the Universe of all paracausality.[1]
In the heat of the chaos following their evacuation, many Fomosian factions splintered away from the rule of Gargulus. One such faction was a fanatical sect of voyagers that found their way to the Sol System prior to the Collapse. This faction was known as the Aphelion, and was previously attested to by the Awoken.
Trivia[edit]
- Astrodemons glow blue during certain attacks as a result of Cherenkov Radiation.
- Because of this, they also purposefully makes themselves glow blue by manipulating the visible light spectrum as an intimidation display.
