Her pitch drops. "I thought this damned thing was over with," she says. "This is… the same as that weapon you have now." She concentrates on it briefly. "This piece is… sharp. It wants to pierce."

Sloane shakes herself. "I'm worried that thing's still out there," she says frankly. "But you may as well arm yourself as best you can, under the circumstances. See if you can convince your weapon to accept this piece as part of itself. I have some recommendations…"
