The Vex life-pattern originated in the simulations conducted between the [[Light]] and [[Darkness]] prior to the creation of the universe. From here, the Vex constructed and developed ever more complex structures, storing the information in the patterns of the radiolaria colonies themselves. Their microscopic nature allowed the Vex intelligence to deduce and experiment with quantum and high energy physics early, while the radiolaria themselves became, in essence, microscopic tool users.
