The First Mind toppled the Empirical Era and turned our own creations against us, initiating a campaign of destruction that would ultimately plunge the last vestiges of humanity into a dark age. During the brutal years since, mankind has struggled to understand why.
The first mind was created in an attempt to bridge the gap between machine intelligence and true sentience—a being of pure intellect, unfettered by any preconception of the universe, unbound by the narrow preconceptions of human senses and thought. It would be able to think in unthinkable ways. And it would deliver to its creators an almost obscene authority over the world.
How the First Mind was corrupted or what transpired in the dark days that came after is a mystery, rooted in the deepest and most inhuman secrets of its birth. Unlocking these secrets may hold the key to our survival.
