Xivu Arath's leaderless Taken and Fikrul's Scorn forces. **Riven grants the 15th wish at the cost of her own existence, sending the Crow through the Ley Lines to the Pale Heart; with his bond to Mara Sov serving as a tether for Osiris to map a bridge using the Veil towards their destination. *The Witness sends in all its forces to lay siege to the Last City and keep the Guardians contained. **Shaxx leads the Guardian counteroffensive against the Witness's forces. *Eido is able to provide more intel on the Witness fron scouring clues throughout the Sol System. *The Sol Divisive recreated the Black Heart with guidance from the Witness, which threatens to undermine the Veil's connection to the Traveler, as its final attempt to keep the Vanguard out of the Pale Heart. **The Guardian the power of Prismatic, reunites with Cayde and later finds Crow before finding Zavala and Ikora. *Zavala is tempted by the Witness, but uncovers a secret from its dissenters and leaves alone to commune with it. **The dissenters from within the Darkness reveal to Zavala how the Witness can be "unmade". **Targe sacrifices himself to save Zavala's life before the Witness could merge him with its collective consciousness. *The Guardian wounds the Witness by unmaking its dissenters from within the Darkness, before retreating after their Ghost was damaged upon casting them out. **Retreating to the monolith, the Witness roots itself into the Traveler and begins enacting the Final Shape. *The rest of the Coalition arrive within the Pale Heart. *The Witness is successfully uprooted from the Traveler, losing its hold on the Light, and driven back from its monolith by a Guardian fireteam. **The unified front of the Coalition alongside the Lucent Brood launch one final attack against the Witness and its forces. **A fireteam of twelve Guardians confront the wounded Witness, unmaking it with the Traveler's freed Light. *The Ghost briefly sacrifices himself channeling the Traveler's Light into its body to destroy the Witness, however he is brought back by Cayde-6 who uses his Light to resurrect him. **Cayde dies his final death, returning to the Light of the Traveler. *An aurora of Light and Darkness called the Valence seeps out of the Traveler after the Witness's defeat. **Multiple Echoes depart out of the Traveler as a result of the memories from the Witness. Witness|Witness]], with other parties being involved as well. After dealing with the threat Savathûn and her brood posed on Sol, the Vanguard began to shift their attention to prepare for the Witness's arrival. The Vanguard and its allies would stop the influence of Rhulk and the Psions on their future, take on the threat imposed by Calus's connection to the Lunar Pyramid as he ascends into a Disciple of the Witness, task the Guardian with securing the relics of Nezarec before Eramis can use it, and assist Ana Bray and Osiris with rebuilding Rasputin in order to both have a means of defense against the Witness and also help Osiris confirm his visions of Neptune were true. Shortly after the final assault on Seraph Station the Witness would arrive with its fleet, along with its newest Disciple, Calus. Despite their best efforts, the Witness managed to establish a link with The Veil after hijacking the Guardian's Ghost and thus begun the Final Shape by creating a portal into the Traveler's Pale Heart. While the Guardian aided in prison break operations across Earth, the Vanguard would repeatedly try to find a way through the portal, all attempts ending in failure. After the reemergence of Titan, the Vanguard would discover that Sloane had survived the disappearance, although she was no partially infused with Taken energy. The Vanguard also discovered that Sloane had befriended Ahsa, a proto-worm that had fled to Titan after the Witness caused her species to slaughter itself in the name of the Sword Logic. After strengthening their psychic connection, Ahsa would reveal to Sloane, and the rest of the Vanguard, about the origins of the Witness and the Final Shape, and that the key to getting through the portal was held by none other than Savathûn herself. After some reluctance, The Vanguard reached an agreement with Immaru, Savathûn's Ghost, in which he would help them bring back Savathûn, under one condition: they deal with her sister, Xivu Arath, first. In order to combat Xivu without a direct conflict, Eris Morn would turn herself into a Hive God of Vengeance, and using the tithes collected by the Guardians, would eventually grow in strength, temporarily becoming the strongest Hive God in existenc. Eris would then use her power to sever Xivu Arath from her throne world, rendering her mortal. Shortly afterwards The Guardian and Eris would find out that Savathûn kept the end of the bargain reached between Immaru and The Vanguard, revealing to them the way into the Traveler, that being the 15th wish. After responding to an incursion of Sol Divisive and Taken forces in the Dreaming City, The Guardian would attempt to initiate the 15th wish, before being denied by the spirit of Riven who was brought back by Mara Sov and her Techeuns. Revealing to them that her clutch needed to be saved and brought back to her, The Guardian sought out to collect Riven’s missing clutch across the Dreaming City and the Riven's Lair to find them. After securing the final egg, Riven granted the wish, and the cost of her continued existence, allowing Crow to safely cross into the Pale Heart via the Ley Lines as his bond to his sister Mara allowed for a connection to be established between them. In the weeks after Crow’s passage, The Witness would launch an assault against the Last City and its defenses. The Vanguard would task Shaxx with the counteroffensive of the attack, which required him to bring out previously banned and restricted weapons under Vanguard policy back into circulation. Once the attacks were repelled, Osiris contacted The Guardian about an interference that prevented Crow from fully crossing the portal, reporting it was coming from the Black Garden. The Guardian was sent to investigate, only to discover the Black Heart was remade by the Sol Divisive under direction's from The Witness. The Guardian would successfully destroy the Black Heart once more, finally allowing Crow to cross into the Pale Heart as he awaited for support to stop the Final Shape from occurring. ==Prelude== ===Birth of the Witness=== Being the first civilization uplifted by the Traveler's Light in recorded history, the species that would eventually become the Witness lived in a Golden Age and would prosper under its influence as it terraformed their desert home planet into a lush paradise. However, their people demanded purpose, so they discovered the Traveler shared a connection with the Veil, an enigma associated with Darkness. The species could not agree on how the Final Shape could be carried out, as it was recorded in a conversation between HNW047622 and RS6243199. HNW047622 followed the beliefs of the Nihilists: a faction who believed that the Final Shape is the result of the species' self-destruction and that they should leave the universe alone while RS6243199 followed the beliefs of the Penitents: a faction who believed that the Final Shape is the result of perfection through the intervention of the universe. Both of these individuals oppose the views of the Solipsists: a faction who believe that the Final Shape can be achieved by the will of the species that believes them.Citation needed These factions were ruled by the Consensus. They eventually learn that the Light affects the physical world and the Darkness affects the mental world.Citation needed After recovering the Veil from the cosmos, they would link it to the Traveler to enact the Final Shape, but the Traveler would refuse the connection and leave their home planet. The species finally found purpose when the Consensus ruled in favor of the Penitent majority, who were undeterred in their pursuit of the Final Shape, so they waged war with the Nihilists and the Solipsists. Once the civil war of their species was over, the Consensus would use the power of the Darkness from the Veil to become one singular, unfathomable being. Thus, the Witness was born. Over time, the Witness would use its philosophy of the Final Shape to recruit other species into its fold,Citation needed imprison its dissenters who disagreed with its pursuit of the Final Shape within its own mind, cause suffering to various species that were uplifted by the Traveler,Citation needed and swiftly conquer any species who used Darkness to benefit their society.Citation needed It caused the extinction of the Noesis, a friendly alien species that met its form first, and the Eurhythmia, a mysterious species that welcomed the Witness's presence until it saw that the Traveler uplifted them and subsequently wiped them out. It then uplifted the last Lubraean named Rhulk, who became the first of its Disciples upon destroying his home planet of Lubrae. The next species to be influenced by the Witness were the proto-Worm Gods living on Fundament.
