Oryx is the sovereign of the Osmium Throne and God-King of the Hive.
Biography[edit]
Oryx was born as one of the Krill princesses of the Osmium Court. When the Court came under attack, the princesses fled into Fundament's oceans where they encountered the Worm Gods. They made a pact with the Worms, consuming their larvae and becoming the first Hive.[1] Their pact with the Worms granted the sisters paracausal abilities, and a constant hunger.[2] The sisters became known as the first Hive Gods.[3]
As the three Hive Gods came into conflict with one another, Oryx realized he needed an heir as well as a constant stream of tithes, leading to the birth of Ir Anûk, Ir Halak, Crota, and Nokris, whose was later banished.[4] Oryx explained the Hive's purpose to Crota: to put an end to the false god known as the Traveler.[5] Oryx gave Crota nothing but his name and a Cleaver, intentionally putting obstacles in his path for him to overcome.[6] Tricked by the Hive God Savathûn, Crota accidentally unleashed the Vex led by Quria onto Oryx's Throne World.[7] Ir Anûk created Annihilator Totems to assist Crota in fighting the Vex.[8] The Worm God Eir summoned Oryx from the frontlines of war he was waging to return order to his Throne World. Using the power of the Taken, Oryx defeated Quria and the Vex, and punished Crota by trapping him in the Vex Network.[9]
