The Hive Bosses section of M.I.N.D. features entries related to Hive Bosses.
Ir Anûk[edit]
One of the famous twin Deathsinger daughters of Oryx.
It was the twins who created the prototype of the Oversoul, and it was she who created the Annihilator Totem to assist Crota when he fought back against the Vex invading Oryx's Throne World. She possesses an understanding of the Ascendant Realm that far surpasses that of others, leading Crota to summon her to his side and assist in the perfecting of his own Throne World.
Crota[edit]
File 1[edit]
The first heir of the Taken King, Oryx.
For the Hive, love is war and death. The three chief gods of the Hive have a special way of showing their kinship: through endless war. To stay on top of this competition, Oryx realized that he needed heirs to continue his bloodline and, more importantly, provide him with a steady stream of tithes.
Crota was thus the first to be born. He would be followed by the twins Ir Anûk and Ir Halak, as well as Nokris, who was eventually banished.
File 2[edit]
The first heir of the Taken King, Oryx.
When Crota was born, Oryx gave him nothing but his name and a sword. Everything had to be acquired by himself. And Crota, being a Hive prince, grew from death wrought by his own hands, learning from his sisters, and overcoming the obstacles his father had deliberately put in his way. He revels in power and longs to test his limits.
Knowing this mindset, the Witch Queen Savathûn laid a trap for her nephew…
File 3[edit]
The first heir of the Taken King, Oryx.
Crota unleashed his power recklessly. Using his sword, he cleaved a rift in space, the other side of which connected to the Vex network. A swarm of Vex invaded Oryx's Throne World under the leadership of an Axis Mind named Quria.
Through a lengthy stalemate, the Vex gradually learned the rules of the Throne World and adapted to them. Even with the help of his sisters, Crota was unable to hold them back, and Oryx's Throne World was in grave danger.
File 4[edit]
The first heir of the Taken King, Oryx.
The conflict in the Throne World was on the verge of spiraling out of control. Alerted by the Worm God Eir, Oryx left the front lines of the raging battle behind to return to his Throne World. After using the power of the Taken, Quria and the Vex were finally defeated. To punish his son's transgressions, Oryx cast Crota into the Vex network before closing the rift.
Crota was thus forced to wander the Nexus, growing stronger in a never-ending battle.
File 5[edit]
The first heir of the Taken King, Oryx.
Through the Vex portal, Crota traveled through time and space, bringing calamity and destruction to countless worlds. In the process, he grew to understand his father, and instead of complaining, he began to form his own brood, sending more and more tithes to his father. Eventually, he reached the Moon—the Pale Star he had been told about as a child. He knew that his wanderings were over. It was here that he would deliver the greatest offering to his father.
Iltaraus, the Pillager[edit]
A Wizard trying to seize the Light and use it for herself.
Unlike other Hive who despise the Light, Iltaraus will not reject anything capable of strengthening her, no matter its form—including the Traveler's gifts. When she realized there was Light-blessed Golden Age technology scattered across the Jiangshi Ice Field's surface, she set to work collecting it and, with her Acolytes' help, converting and extracting the energy inside.
Just as Sword Logic teaches, what cannot be destroyed will surpass Infinity.
Yurriks-7, the Mind Disruptor[note 1][edit]
A special Servitor lurking within the Ketch wreckage.
When the House of Devils invaded Earth, they discovered files left over from a "Speaker creation experiment." The Speaker is capable of receiving messages from the Traveler, while the Fallen built their Servitors in its image. The House of Devils created the special Servitor Yuriiks with this purpose in mind, iterating on it through experiment after experiment until finally, Yuriiks-7 was born. When it was used in experiments, it showed itself capable of giving the Fallen hallucinations. However, those hallucinations did not deliver any revelations from the Traveler, and after undergoing the experiment several times, the subjects would begin descending into madness.
Yuriiks-7 appears to enjoy controlling others' consciousnesses. It escaped the lab and constructed a "consciousness lockdown unit," which incited chaos within the House of Devils. All they could do was seal it within the lab. When the Ketch landed, they would try to find more documents left by the human scientists to further perfect Yuriiks-7.
Ir Eruna, Swordsinger[edit]
Crota's executioner.
Ir Eruna's methods of gaining power are extreme even by Hive standards. She encourages her subordinates to slaughter each other, with each battle's loser becoming fodder for the victor, the victor climbs the ranks and becomes her champion, only to become her own tribute in an unfortunate final defeat.
She studied different rituals in an effort to apply Sword Logic more efficiently, and once she arrived on Earth, she began trying to use humans and Lightbearers as sacrifices. When it comes to her captives, she takes morbid pleasure in deceiving them through illusions.
Notes[edit]
- ^ Despite not being a Hive Boss, Yurriks-7 is listed in the "Hive Bosses" section of M.I.N.D. in what is likely a developer oversight.
