While you are exploring the Pleasure Gardens area of the Derelict Leviathan, there is a chance that a message will pop up, saying "A sword and shield clash together...". Climb up some rocks near the entrance from the Castellum to enter a Haunted Alcove with a Nightmare Raider at the end of a corridor. Once it is alerted to your presence, you will receive another message, this time reading "Powerful Nightmares begin to slip away", indicating that if you do not defeat all of the enemies fast enough, they will despawn and you will have to wait for another chance. You will have to fight off several Nightmare Raiders and Lurkers, as well as Minor-tier Raiders, all of whom deal large amounts of damage and can quickly overwhelm and kill you if you do not take them out fast.

After killing enough enemies, both Ha'lok and Kra'lok will finally arrive, with Kra'lok spawning in a low pool of water in the center of the room. Like other Nightmare bosses, they are extremely durable and highly resistant to all strikes, and your attacks will deal very little damage against them. However, the lesser enemies that spawn will drop Unstable Essence upon death, which will allow you to deal more damage to the Sword and Shield. Kra'lok, like other Chieftains, is tankier compared to Ha'lok and can spawn Solar Ether Totems for added danger in addition to the enemies. If you are successful in defeating the Nightmares of Ha'lok and Kra'lok before either or both despawn, you can claim your loot from the chest that appears, and you will also be awarded the 'Nightmare Breached' Triumph.
