Ikora dashes through the void in the direction of the reticle or the current direction of movement, up to '''8'''m. While she is moving, her drawn weapon is reloaded by '''100%''' of its magazine (the magazine can overflow by up to '''200%''' of its capacity), and ''' Micro Black Hole''' is generated, following Ikora for up to '''10'''s. Whenever Ikora fires a weapon, all accompanying '''Micro Black Holes''' will be launched, applying Collapse to combatants or obstacles within a radius equal to '''2 + weapon's blast radius'''. When '''Void Chain''' damages a linked combatant, '''5%''' of the damage taken is transferred to all other linked combatants. This shared damage cannot be spread a second time. *'''Stellar Aegis''': The '''Overshield''' effect granted by '''Light's Convergence''' is enhanced by an additional '''30%'''. *'''Energized Star''': '''Stellar Projection''''s overpenetration damage and delayed detonation damage, and '''Volatile Energy''''s detonation damage are each increased by an additional '''15%'''. *'''Vacuum Decay''': The blast damage of '''Falling Stars''' is increased by '''20%''', and the vulnerability from Gravitational Suppression is additionally increased by '''20%'''. *'''Dual Orbit''': '''Stellar Projection''' continues spinning after reaching its max angle of '''360'''°, which can overpenetrate combatants again and generate another delayed detonation. The words are enlarged and in bold.] This letter isn't for you, Ikora. Your name's only on it because this absurd mailing system doesn't support Ghosts as recipients. This is discrimination, I tell you! And no, I don't buy their pathetic excuses about "not being able to tell one Ghost from another"—it's discrimination, pure and simple! Alright, now that that's out of the way… I hope all's well with you. Osiris mentioned wanting to swing by to see the Traveler, which means we won't stray too far from Haven. It looks like we'll be meeting up soon. I know he hates dealing with crowds, but I can always sneak in a visit—seeing as they "can't tell Ghosts apart" and whatnot. This next part is for Ophiuchus—do me a favor and pass this letter on to him, would you? Ophiuchus, did you really think blocking me would prevent me from contacting you? Now, behold! The most primitive form of communication! You promised to share your thoughts on that book, but not only did you break your promise, you blocked me! And it was such a riveting read, too! Your understanding of satirical literature is, simply put, too superficial, my friend! I demand that you unblock me immediately so we can skip this archaic letter-writing and jump back to instant and efficient communication. Can you believe it takes half a month just to deliver a single letter? Half a month! P.S. Unblock me, and I might just spill one of Osiris's deepest, darkest secrets… P.P.S. It's a secret of the most hilarious order. [Handwritten on the back of the letter] I fully understand where you are coming from, Ophiuchus. That novel was, without a doubt, an awful mess of a romantic fantasy adventure. Also, do disregard anything Sagira says about me—she likes to embellish the truth. ===Champion=== Osiris is always on my back for spending too much time in combat simulations, claiming them to be completely pointless. I his eyes, combat is just a means to an end, and he's content to avoid confrontation whenever possible. But what he doesn't understand is just how much I love it. Sure, I cherish those quiet moments alone with my times and thoughts, but the thrill of battle is a different beast entirely—flexing your muscles, gauging your own strength, sizing up your opponents, feeling the Light coursing through your every vein... Victory is certainly sweet, but the anticipation? It's just as exhilarating. My knowledge is a weapon, and so is my Light. Both exist for one purpose: to ensure I emerge triumphant. Ophiuchus said he chose me for the fierce yet serene strength he saw in me—persistent and relentless in the pursuit of my own goals, with a thirst for victory that forbids complacency. He's always been a keen critic, with unique and precise insights into the world and everything around him. He tells me that each time I step into the Shifting Gates, it's as if I've entered my own personal hunting grounds, waiting for my prey to reveal a moment of weakness. Sometimes Ophiuchus's commentary is like the narration of a documentary, with myself as the subject. I can sort of see why he likened my opponent today to a lion... ...No, that was uncalled for. I hope Jolder never finds out what I was thinking just now. ===The Dinner Invitation=== I have to admit, I didn't see this invitation coming. If Ophiuchus hadn't reminded me, I might not have recognized the strapping, spirited man before me as the Sydney I met back then—gaunt, hollow-eyed, all skin and bones, just another refugee among millions. I thought I'd grown numb to the mortals' plight, having witnessed so much of it, but when I saw him again and matched his new, joyful face with the one buried in the back of my brain, an indescribable, feverish thrill struck me… and perhaps a touch of happiness, too. He lives in a small street-side house, sparsely furnished but tidy, with only the kitchen seeming overcrowded—Sydney says he inherited his grandfather's love for cooking. Despite warm meals being a luxury for much of his life, he says that taste is a peculiar experience, unforgettable once savored—and especially vivid when hunger comes knocking. This ramen's really something… His culinary skills are bound to draw a crowd. And he was right. As his first customer, I'm almost certain I'll never forget how good this tasted. His rented shop is right on the edge of the bazaar, and though it's just an empty lot now, I'm sure he'll soon welcome his second customer, then a third…until every resident of Haven has had the chance to savor his creations. Regardless of where they're from or what they've been through, when they try his food, they're sure to find a simple bowlful of joy. ===Ghost Theater=== I had no idea until today that Ghosts have their own little forum. I'm not at all upset about it. I'm well aware that everyone has their secrets, Ghosts included. Ophiuchus is an independent entity, not merely an appendage of mine—I was just teasing him. After all, seeing him flustered and trying to cover up a lie is a rare occurrence. This event, as Ophiuchus put it, was supposed to be a pleasant surprise. As the winner of a raffle's grand prize, he was the only lucky Ghost allowed to bring his Lightbearer to view the performance. In hindsight, I should've braced myself when I saw that ticket, and maybe given Ophiuchus a heads-up. I'm guessing that was the last raffle he'll ever enter. [A printed ticket to a play] You are cordially invited to a special performance: Come witness the outstanding debut of avant-garde Ghost auteur, Didi. The first-ever play starring a Ghost as the main character, featuring an entirely Ghost-penned script and an outstanding thirteen-minute Ghost-acted monodrama. Critically acclaimed, the famous Lightbearer Ikora and her Ghost Ophiuchus are attending by special invitation. '''An epic tale of love, duty, war, and alternate universes. Murder? Betrayal? Bold revelations? Plot twists? You can expect all and more.''' Join the legendary unpaired Ghost Didi on an epic quest to find her Lightbearer. I've been advised against revealing this to you. The truth can be frightening, and sometimes ignorance is bliss. However, I am full aware that lying to someone as wise as yourself would only make matters worse. Indeed, I maintain an intelligence organization, the very place you described as being "filled with secrets gleaned through spying and eavesdropping." Surely you understand the necessity of such a group—who understands the value of information and knowledge more than a scholar? It has been instrumental in Haven's survival against multiple Fallen assault, and it has helped me thoroughly prepare for negotiations with Warlords. Of course, I won't deny that this organization undertakes certain questionable tasks, but the collapse of iron walls often starts from within. Are there those I distrust? Perhaps. But my only wish is to avoid future regret over a lapse in vigilance. It's not the most illustrious of jobs, but it is a vital one. Hence, I propose to you an invitation. Rather than fretting about my intelligence organization potentially veering off course or making skewed decisions, why not become part of it and wit its operations firsthand? "To err is human," as they say, and I believe that extends to us Lightbearers, too. But the hard facts don't lie. You'll learn much here, of secrets lurking in the shadows and ancient records—among the many fabricated falsehoods always hide some truths. You might not trust me, Ikora, but I trust you. You might not support every choice I make, but I know you'll always make the right ones. Should you choose to accept this proposal, please come to the Archive at 3 AM. The password is your code name: '''IKO-006'''. ===Strange Correspondence=== Encryption Level: A Identification Code: UHGT-Y00OS-IK01 Sender: Osiris Recipient: Ikora Subject: I Was Right Ikora, concerning the matter we were arguing about last time, I can now give you a straight answer—I was right, no question. I can say this because I now stand before that very same door. I'm not one for making bets, but you said that if I was right, you would cover for me at all Vanguard meetings for the next three months. I'm counting on you to keep your word, as I might not be able to make it back in time. They'll have questions for you—a lot of them. But you can handle yourself. You've always managed. In fact, I think you might be better suited for the role than me—I know you'll disagree, but I have to say it. Considering how my coordinates on the timeline will change unpredictable once I step through the door, I wouldn't want you to receive this message years, or even decades from now. So, I've set up three delayed deliveries—before entering, during, and after. The content of each message is the same, but remember to tell me the timestamps and corresponding identification codes when you receive them. Furthermore, if I don't contact you again, and you don't receive the third message, tell the council that they should seal that door shut. I've already sent you the "key," which you should find in your mail tomorrow. ===That Wasn't "Me"=== Encryption Level: A Identification Code: WTKD-1YS78-XX32 Sender: Osiris Recipient: Ikora Subject: That Wasn't "Me" RE: I Was Right This is indeed peculiar. I'm certain that message didn't come from my communicator; I did not write it, nor did Sagira. After checking the IP address, I've arrived at two interesting conclusions: 1. The serial number of the communicator that sent this message is identical to my own. 2. The message was sent from Venus. However, as you stated, there are multiple obvious falsehoods that could lead one to assume it was a practical joke: 1. I have never set foot on Venus. 2. Neither you nor I know of this "Vanguard" organization, the "door" mentioned, or the bet we allegedly have. 3. My communicator has no record of sending such a message, and both Sagira and I have no memory of writing it. As you know, the Ishtar Collective was conducting studies on Venus before the Collapse. I managed to get my hands on some info from the more intact research facilities, which detail the existence of something unprecedentedly ancient there—far older than it "ought" to be. They hypothesize the existence of another dimension on Venus, or rather, a force capable of altering time and space. Regardless of whether this message's contents hold water, I have to say, its writer matched my style to a T. Thus, I have come to a conclusion—one that I'm sure you, too, have arrived at: this message came from the future. Or rather, it was sent by my future self. Just think, Ikora. If I got curious and headed to Venus, stumbled upon this amazing power, and actually managed to open the door to some unknown dimension, would I go in? I absolutely would. I'd step right in and relay all my findings to you, because I value your counsel and your objective, rational point of view. That's why you're receiving this message. Sagira had an interesting thought regarding this "Vanguard" organization: if, when it is eventually established, it is named based on the contents of that message, would it not form a classic time paradox? I doubt I would actually join an organization with such obvious political ties, though, let alone help lead it. It goes without saying, but the idea is positively preposterous. As for the other message, I'm particularly interested in the "key" it mentions. If you do receive it (though it's highly unlikely you will), be sure to forward a copy to me. ===The Gift=== I've often contemplated whether Lightbearers gradually lose their ability to feel over their near-infinite lifespans. Many Lightbearers are deemed insensitive, and there's a pattern to their demeanor. It appears that even when it comes to life and death, the principle of "everything in moderation" still applies. After witnessing and experiencing countless short-lived deaths, is it just self-inflicted torture for Lightbearers to invest emotions in such transient lives? Nearly every Lightbearer has asked their Ghost at some point, "Does the Traveler's will truly exist?" And if they haven't yet, then it is only a matter of time. I still remember the rage that burned inside me the first time I saw civilians die as a result of conflict between Warlords. It was like wildfire, a blazing inferno showing me what I could really do with the Light the Traveler had given me. But as I witnessed history repeat itself again and again, I began to fear—I feared losing that rage. Ophiuchus reassured me that as long as I still ponder this question, that day will never come. Though I strive not to let that numbness take hold, I must admit, living so long has changed me. If I hadn't received a New Year's gift from the guerrillas today, I might not have even realized a whole year had slipped by. Time is like a ruler. To me, a day, a week, a month…they're all just measures of distance carved into the surface, almost indistinguishable. I rarely pay attention to specific dates. Time measures my existence in cycles. One winter arrives, while another is about to pass. However, for the Jiangshi guerrillas, each new year holds special significance. Perhaps because mortal lives have an endpoint, every day, month, and year they draw closer to it is invaluable. They must have prepared a lot for this special day. I received a whole bunch of handmade presents, each crafted with care—gloves, scarves, and a Ghost-sized sweater hand-knitted by Dolma—she even used purple wool, which was a nice touch. Ophiuchus wasn't too keen at first, but getting him into that little sweater didn't take much. It seems even someone as headstrong as Ophiuchus can hardly reject a heartfelt gift. Unfortunately, I'm afraid it won't be with him for long—it falls to the ground when he conceals himself. Clearly, wool wasn't the most practical choice of material. He breathed a sigh of relief, but I could tell he was slightly disappointed—he liked that sweater somewhat. I should take a photo of Ophiuchus wearing it and sent it to them—I know they'd appreciate it. ===Reading Notes=== '''The Prophecies of Kinneret Krauser''' Ophiuchus: The latter part is utter nonsense, but the section on the Collapse is worth a look, don't you think? After all, records from that era are exceedingly rare. Ikora: Well, the prophecies really started to fall apart about ten years after the Collapse, so we can guess when it was published. '''Creation Myths of Mesopotamia''' Ophiuchus: These old myths about deities always make me think of the Traveler. Intriguing as they are, though, I find myself slightly more drawn to our own "deity." Ikora: Myths, to some extent, represent an alternative portrayal of history. Once you set aside the whole deification aspect, you'll find that ruthless rulers are the most common form of a higher power humanity has encountered. The only difference is whether they're named gods or lords. '''Mechanics and Intelligence: The Fundamental Framework and Core Logic of Smart Machines''' Ophiuchus: We should bookmark this—the information here might just assist Bazinet in repairing that abandoned smart machine in her warehouse. Ikora: I assumed Ghosts inherently possessed such knowledge of artificial intelligence. Ophiuchus: Not quite. It's an entirely separate framework. '''Report on the Second Expedition to the Ruins of Phobos''' Ophiuchus: This journal… It's classified info from the Ishtar Academy! Where did you find it? Its contents are revolutionary! I must say, the knowledge it contains has flipped some of my prior conceptions of the Light on their heads… Ikora: Osiris sent it to me. He has quite the interesting collection. Ophiuchus: If we ever get the chance, we should journey to Phobos. Ikora: I agree. '''Mama Bear and Papa Rabbit's Adventures''' Ophiuchus: Is this the book of fairy tales Dobbaq lent you? Oh, how charming. Fairy tales possess a unique magic, one that allows me to see the world afresh with the innocence of a child. Ikora: Everyone has the right to enjoy fairy tales, even the Speaker. I'm still waiting for her to return a book to me. Ikora: By the way, did you notice? The "Mama Bear" in the story seems to have been inspired by Lady Xuân Yến. '''Satire, Jokes, and Other Forms of Humor''' Ikora: It's really bad. I'd avoid it, if I were you. Ophiuchus: Oh… I wish you'd told me sooner. '''Essential Lightbearer Recipes: Sain-14's Home Cookbook''' Ophiuchus: This recipe for Old Russian piroshki seems interesting, but I wonder… Do Exos taste things the same way we do? I mean…Saint-14 is an Exo, isn't he? Ikora: I have my doubts about the authenticity of this book. As you can see, the author's name is signed here as Andal Brask, and let's just say there have been…rumors about him. Also, the sugar-to-oil ratio for the chak-chak in the Russian dessert section on page twenty-eight is clearly off. It just wouldn't work that way. Ophiuchus: Have you tried it? Ikora: I have. ===The Cosmos=== I love this place, the Space Elevator—it makes me feel as if I've escaped Earth's gravity and left the planet behind, as if I'm floating through the cosmos, cradled by the stars. Gravity is one of the sources of Void energy. It's a force I've repeatedly experience and learned to wield, as if tracing the orbits of planets within my own miniature universe. I've seen the images and recordings left by past astronomers, and I've looked up to the stars through the telescope at the museum's observatory. They are beautiful, yes, but they are not the true face of the universe, seen with my own eyes after passing through the atmosphere. Down on Earth, the sun and moon are mere components of the sky, like the hands of a clock, or elusive and distant motifs upon an immense canvas. And now, with my feet having left the Earth's surface and gravity's pull on me having weakened, it's as if I no longer belong to Earth—an incredible feeling. Gravity is a thread that binds me, yet also keeps me safe. And with it severed, I'm able to observe Earth and the world around me from a wider, more free perspective. But alongside that sense of awe is also heartfelt fear. This fear stems from the boundless vastness of space, the unbearable feeling of weightlessness, the eternal silence, and the blinding sun, which becomes even harder to gaze upon without the atmospheric barrier shielding one's eyes. The sun's massive size and scorching heat make it a terrifying force, one that reminds those who witness it of their own insignificance. Within the cosmos, I am alone, and yet this solitude differs from that experienced in Earth. It is quieter. It is more straightforward. It has more presence. I'm very lucky to have Ophiuchus as my companion. He told me that, if we eventually leave Earth and embark on a journey across the stars, he would like our first destination to be Venus, a world vastly different from our own. There, the sun rises in the west and sets in the east, and we would need to wait 117 Earth-days to witness both phenomena. "Fortunately," he said, "I'm a Ghost, and you're a Lightbearer, so time is no issue for us, right?" His words harbor the unique ability to free my heart from its fear and loneliness, then bring it back to my chest, filled instead with hunger, curiosity, and ambition. Of course, my eyes can only see so far; what I perceive is just a fraction of the solar system, which is itself just a fraction of the Milky Way, and there are countless such galaxies residing in this seemingly infinite universe. The cosmos is vast and magnificent, and I am profoundly ignorant, yet curious about every corner of it. The Traveler gifted me a near endless lifespan. Perhaps the true significance of that time remains hidden in one such inconspicuous corner. Someday, I will leave Earth and visit every planet in Sol, then the Local Bubble, and the Orion Arm... I will measure and understand everything with my eyes and footsteps. I will learn, think, and discover the truths of the universe for myself. |title2= Ikora, the Hidden |content2= {{Verbatim}} ===Reply=== [A handwritten letter that has clearly been edited many times.] I will not beat around the bush, Ikora. I'm very glad you sought my opinion on this matter, but I can't say I agree with your point of view. Indeed, the Iron Lords differ from all other Lightbearer organizations I've seen, formed not to gain an advantage in a war, but to end war itself. Much time has passed, yet even to this day, I have not doubted Radegast's intentions in founding this organization. That was why I chose to become Felwinter's apprentice all those years ago. But be that as it may, people change, and factions are a conglomerate of multiple people. I do not need to elaborate on the uncertainty this adds. When you act for the sake of your own goals, you know what you are doing, and you know the potential consequences of your choices. Now, however, we are talking about an intelligence agency, a spy network, a machine built for war. Of course, it's as you said—the machine already exists and would continue to run regardless of whether you accepted the position of operator. Radegast handed control over it to you because he trusts you will make the right decision when the time comes. In that regard, he may trust you more than he trusts himself. But how can you ensure every gear of this machine turns correctly? The second it malfunctions or you err in your judgment, what you will face is not a trap that will harm you alone, but a war that will spill the blood of many. Ask yourself—are you truly prepared to accept the consequences? I know that once you've made your decision, it's highly unlikely anything I write will change your mind. Though I am loath to admit it under such circumstances, we are very alike in our stubbornness. Regardless, I hope this letter can be of some aid to you. Even though you may already be this machine's operator, I hope that when it comes time to press that button, you can re-examine your choice and recall what you once told me: "Nobody can be right forever." ===Hey, Newbie=== ACCESS LEVEL: Top Secret ENCRYPTION PASSKEY: M4K8Q2F9Z3T1S6L7W0PR$IKO-006 CHANNEL MEMBERS: CHA-319, IKO-006 CHANNEL NAME: Hi, Newbie 1.Hey!
