===Record of a Battle I===

Before the decisive battle with the Warlord Dampier began, I'd never thought I'd use the "T" tactic from the age of sail-propelled ships ever again. Fortunately, Dampier's vessel and I were both relics of a bygone era. His flagship was a cargo ship roughly 200 feet tall, its sides welded with composite armor and intercepting nets. He'd transformed it into a fortress, armed with cannon ports and platforms suitable for firing all manner of weapons. Luckily for me, though, it was far from a real warship, incapable of holding any fancy, long-ranged weapons he could fire while sipping on his coffee. 

That's not to say it wasn't a fierce battle. The seas were ablaze, and the cannon fire left me deaf for a bit. The only things on his mind were: control the rudder, turn, fire, repeat. Our firepower was no match for his. The Lightbearers among us died and rose before the pain could even subside, while the mortals never opened their eyes again. I saw the ship's wreckage and shreds of flags floating in the water, the last tombstone to remember those who had met their end on the sea. I could almost imagine Dampier's arrogant grin inside that "Iron Kraken" of his.

Stay calm, I told myself, as I had Parrot report on our remaining firepower. The situation was worse than I'd thought, but not nearly dire enough to despair. I looked out at Dampier's fortress through the telescope. It was massive, imposing, a leviathan supported by death. My gaze swept over the sturdy armor and the cannon barrels protruding from the firing ports, and idea was born. The risk would be high, but any pirate worth her salt should embrace storms and whirlpools.

So, I gave the command. "Sail straight for 'em."

===Record of a Battle II===

Just as I'd anticipated, Dampier had placed too much importance on his floating fortress's firepower and not enough on its agility. We, on the other hand, had dropped some equipment that had affected our warship's speed, and at full power, it far outpaced Dampier's fleet. Once he'd realized that, the minefield he'd previously set up hindered his movements, and the excessive weight made his pursuit a joke. By the time Dampier angrily gave the orders to turn, our vessel was already sitting perpendicular to his. Both our offense and defense had taken shape.

The fixed firing range prevented Dampier from focusing his cannons on us; meanwhile, his steel behemoth has become the perfect target. Setting my telescope at its highest magnification, I saw his eyes open wide as he reflected on the flood of incoming artillery and experienced an unknown emotion: fear. Soon, his despair and unwillingness to admit defeat were shattered along with his Ghost and sank beneath a blood-red sky.

The seawater flung skyward turned into a salty rain pouring over my head and face. The pain seeped into pale, soaked wounds that hadn't fully healed, giving my number brain a moment of clarity. People were cheering. Tears and blood mixed as they celebrated a bittersweet victory, but the belated feeling that overcame me was one of exhaustion.

This was my last fight against Dampier, yet it would not be my final battle. How long would the peace and security we'd bought with lives last? Nobody could give an answer. This planet seems to have no plans of giving humanity stability or respite.

Once the exhaustion faded, the unease and confusion in my heart intensified, burning into a terrifying impulse. That night, I turned my gaze to the starry sky above.

Whether it's a peaceful place to rest or a chaotic new stage, for a pirate, both are treasures worthy of setting sail.

===Children===

Today, I paid a visit to Ms. Aimee and ran into the kids I'd met previously. Turns out, my tales of pirate life hadn't scared them at all. When they saw me coming, they were actually pretty happy. At least that means the cookies I'd brought didn't go to waste.

My arrival gave Ms. Aimee some time to rest. We had a simple chat; she didn't see me as some sort of dangerous ne'er-do-well, instead inviting me to spend some more time with the kids. Children are largely all the same. They like sweets, games, and interesting stories. I used a few tricks to get the little rascals sitting in a circle, and before you know it, Parrot had them listening with big, bright eyes as he told stories from who knows when. Now, they're all claiming they want to be pirates sailing the high seas—a bit of a headache for Ms. Aimee.

Times are always changing. A few hundred years ago, some parents would've used legends of pirates to scare their children into behaving, filling their nightmares with one-eyed, hook-handed demons steering algae-covered ghost ships. Now, they're part of the kids' games of make-believe.

They asked me to come back and visit them often. It's not a particularly harsh request, so I agreed that until I left Haven, I'd make it part of my regular schedule. The real challenge is coming up with new adventures every week, but lucky for me, it's nothing Parrot can't handle. At long last, his beloved pirate tales have an audience other than me.

===First Mate, Second Mate===

My second mate is my parrot—the bird kind, not my Ghost. It's a beautiful macaw with feathers as dazzling as jewels, all carefully preened. When we first met, though, that was far from the case. It had fallen from a tree, completely bald and huddled in the grass, struggling to survive. I picked it up and brought it back to my ship, where Parrot—my Ghost, not the bird—declared it second mate.

Every pirate captain should keep a parrot. That's what Parrot told me, at least—the bloke's addicted to those centuries-old pirate stories. Bringing our second mate on board was a lot of fun for him. As it gradually recover and grew those beautiful feathers, it finally learned to speak under Parrot's persistent guidance. The result, unfortunately, was endless bickering say in and day out. It's got quite the extensive vocabulary. Parrot's lost so many times, he's beginning to regret teaching it language.

===Regarding Haven's "Records"===
===The Ship and Tohorā===

I once had a ship. It was a legacy of the Golden Age I'd found on an unnamed island. Aside from the thick blanket of ferns covering its surface, the partial damaged equipment, and the layers of dust thick enough to fill my lungs and then some, it was in amazing condition. Parrot and I checked its central control system, and thanks to the miraculous technology of the Golden Age, its power valve still responded to start-up commands even after its centuries-long baptism in dust and flora.

We checked its navigation log, which recorded several coordinates in a complex code. Once he's cracked it, Parrot told me they pointed to several exoplanets that humans colonized during the Golden Age, meaning we may be able to use them to leave Earth.

After that, my life was filled with gathering materials and modifying the spacecraft. It was a tedious task, but Parrot and I enjoyed it, for we had a real ship capable of sailing us through the vast unknown. We reinforced its armor and protective plates, repaired the reactor, and at last, put this old sailor back on deck.

And the result? A failure. My ship burned up mid-air. Parrot had to dredge me out of the Dead Sea, then we stared out at the sinking wreckage, unable to utter so much as a sigh.

Then, I saw something glowing in the shipwreck. I approached it and dug out part of the shielding layer. It was a Collapsing Cannon—a weapon that had once sailed the stars with this ship and had miraculously survive the crash. Now, a new dawn shone from its intact shell, and Light surged from within it.

I pulled it from the wreckage, named it "Tohorā," then set off with both my new Relic and Parrot in tow. Even after countless battles, it remains a good ally. One day, I'll have a new flagship capable of sailing the cosmos, and when that day comes, Tohorā will be both its main cannon and its crown jewel.

===Silver Fern===

I'm used to carrying a silver fern with me. Admiring the beautiful leaves under the moonlight puts me at ease. But with the passage of time and changes in the climate, this plant has become increasingly rare, and I was left with little choice but to grow my own replacement specimens. Once the water is gone, it needs to be removed very carefully. Once, I used too much force and accidentally crushed one of the plants into fragment dust.

On the island where I was resurrected, the residents believed these plants and their beautiful, curved leaves can guide us home. They call the silver fern's tender, unfurling fronds "koru." The plant's long history and curly shape reminded them of eternity, of an extended lifespan. After wandering the boundary between life and death countless times, I've begun to taste that cycle's emptiness. A Lightbearer's life is practically endless, and no matter how much they circle around, they always return to the starting point.

I've lived too long; change and apoptosis have both shut me out. The end is as distant to me as the North Star beyond the clouds. How do I touch an unattainable end?

Well, such thoughts are somewhat sentimental. At least until the truth of my fate is revealed, I have plenty of time to sail. Like the pioneers who sailed their wooden ships to explore uncharted islands thousands of years ago, I will set sail among the stars. Perhaps only then will I glimpse the truth hidden in eternity.

When that time comes, perhaps I'll bring a silver fern.

===You Call that Fishing?===

Kabr has invited me several times to participate in those leisurely fishing events held at a slow-moving river near Haven. However, I'd always found various reasons to refuse.

It's not that I'm opposed to fishing as an activity. Indeed, it is fun, but my idea of fishing doesn't include pitching tents and meditating in outdoor chairs by a calm lake, waiting for those poor, foolish fry to bite the hook. I'd rather deal with Ms. Aimee's kids a hundred times over. I told them if my experience with open-sea fishing—slightly exaggerated, sure, but the thrill I spoke of was genuine. What's even more real are the terrors of the waters, great enough to give those land-lubbers nightmares.

Sea fishing is enjoyable—at least for me, it is. I once fought against a giant catch in a storm. In my memory, it seemed as big as a small mountain, and the wind and waves felt strong enough to engulf the whole world, cheering the fish on as it fought me. Parrot was so scarred, he asked me to tie him to the mast, forgetting that he could just as easily conceal himself.

I stood at the bow of the ship, tightly gripping my custom fishing rod. The leviathan, lured and frenzied by the bait, struggled wildly at the sea's surface, stirring up even more waves and leaving only its pungent, fishy smell. It slammed its body against the side of the ship, nearly sending me into the water. One part of the hulk sank, and its bony fin cut off a mast. I used all the weapons at my disposal to reel it in. The blood that splattered out looked thick and green as it floated on the surface. They dying body of the defeated was at last hauled aboard. Naturally, I'd won. Standing in the eye of the storm, I declared my victory with a final round of artillery fire.

On our return journey, we saw a giant whale leap out of the water, its skin like an abyss, reflecting the colors of the universe under the late dawn glow. I hope to continue my hobby of sea fishing as I embark on my journey beyond Earth. They say that in the furthest reaches of the universe, there swims a giant whale that swallows entire planets. I look forward to the day I encounter this catch.
 
===Plunderer's Trove===

A Wooden Carving with Unique Totem Motifs

A gift from a tribe on the island of my resurrection, a land embraced by warm, tropical winds. I'd once interested with the local residents, but when I chose to set sail, not all of them chose to follow me out to sea. They were unwilling to part with the land they were blood-bound to. This wooden carving appeared among the supplies they'd prepared for me, appearing out of place among various weapons and equipment.

Living such a long life has left me unable to remember just how many nights I've dreamed about that island while caressing the fading patterns. The totem was painted with special pigments, and they've remained clear even after enduring storms, symbolizing my connection with it. I was reborn there, grew up there again, like a child. Even with thousands of miles separating us, I can still feel the tremors of that land and my heart beating at the same frequency.


A Mostly Damaged Microcomputer

Taken while we were dismantling a spacecraft. Even if we could fix it, its performance wouldn't be anything to write home about. The only reason I've kept it is the log saved to the database of its navigation system. Its former owner was a space photography enthusiast, so various images of the cosmos occupy the log as opposed to coordinates and events. It has little practical value, but it does give me something nice to admire in my spare time.


A Locket

When we made this necklace, we were busy renovating that Golden Age spaceship. I cobbled this together with scraps of material. Parrot told me that in the distant past, sailors and pirates used them to store a lock of a loved one's hair or other small mementos. I don't have anything to commemorate, so it's currently empty and gathering dust as a decoration. However, on the day when I truly set sail, perhaps I'll pack some of Earth's soil and flowers inside.

-Haven's at a high altitude, and from the platforms surrounding the garden and armory, you can see a stretch of mountains surging up, like frozen waves. Of course, there's also the Traveler. This extraterrestrial visitor is a miracle, having brought both progress and disaster. Perhaps it's because it's the source of the Light that brought me back, but looking at it always gives me a sense of calm and peace—something forgotten and unfamiliar, thanks to the constant conflicts.
-But I'm no mere tourist. The high terrain is good news, as it means Haven's security won't be able to catch up with me if I fly that ship out of here. All I need to do is break through an insignificant barrier, and I'll have more than enough height to make my ascent. I'll need to pay special attention to the layout of Haven's defenses, though.
-However, one pesky little problem remains. If my takeoff fails, that precious ship will crash with me. As a Lightbearer, death's not a problem, but being trapped beneath a pile of scrap metal is. Plus, I'd be hard-pressed to find another similar ship in the short term. The risk is still high, and I need to consider this route carefully. That Eliksni "ally" may not be a bad choice, all things considered.
-I'll also need to plan for a supplementary energy source, transferring available equipment, and plotting transit routes. Considering Haven's a place worth resting my feet for a while, I've no doubt I'll be able to work out the details from a long-term perspective.
