Zelpachad, Shadow of Terror

An Ahamkara who was hidden at the bottom of the Red Sea Rift for years, and a master of feeding off others' pain and fear.

This Ahamkara, who has lurked in the Red Sea since the Golden Age, resides in the Rift's deepest trenches in the form of a sea serpent. She fed on the desires of explorers aboard passing ships and was also the cause of many wrecks in the area.

After the Collapse, she expanded her hunting grounds to include the Cabal invaders. Lacking in strength, she is cautious, rarely initiating attacks to avoid revealing her presence and instead exploiting subconscious wishes to serve her own malevolent purposes.

To remain perfectly hidden, Zelpachad set a trap to bewilder all the creatures who approached her nest, showing them what they wanted and feared most. Her prey would become obsessed with these desires and make terror-fueled wishes. In the end, they would be trapped here forever, becoming both a fount of power and her faithful guardians.

Zelpachad did not hide the core of her being within her nest. What Estela destroyed was merely a separated portion of her energy formed of a slough.

The legendary "Wish-Granter" of the Red Sea Rift is none other than Zelpachad. To an Ahamkara, human desires are a delectable feast. Thus she has left her lair to hunt among human settlements.

Estela found the core of Zelpachad's being, and its destruction would spell the true end for the Ahamkara. Realizing she was about to die, Zelpachad did the unthinkable: she made a wish upon herself. To the Ahamkara, wishing upon oneself is suicide. This makes the repercussions far more fatal...and far wide-reaching.
