The Cabal section of M.I.N.D. features entries related to the Cabal.

Cabal[edit]

A hulking alien race with a brutal nature.

The society of this militarized cosmic empire is one that upholds ancient traditions. The emperor and military leaders stay on Torobatl, issuing orders to their legions, expanding the empire's borders, and conquering all those within their reach. The Cabal have enslaved countless races throughout the galaxy.

Following the Collapse, several Cabal legions set their sights on Sol.

Sand Eaters[edit]

File 1[edit]

One of the Cabal legions that have invaded Sol.

The Sand Eaters' main force is located on Mars. While they were conquering the planet, they alarmed the Vex programming collective located there—the Virgo Prohibition—and sparked an immediate conflict. The number of Vex reinforcements pouring out from their network interface drastically exceeded the legion command's expectations, and they've since fallen into a prolonged tug of war.

One of the Cabal legions that have invaded Sol.

After failing to gain the upper hand against the Vex for some time, the legion's leadership decided to expand the scale of the war. In order to obtain the necessary additional military support, the legion decided to dispatch several teams to search for resources on other planets in Sol. One of those teams found that Earth's Red Sea Rift was home to abundant mineral deposits, including Radiancite. They sprang into action and drove away the humans residing there with overwhelming military force, quickly occupying the main drilling zone of the Red Sea Rift.

File 3[edit]

One of the Cabal legions that have invaded Sol.

As a military empire, the Cabal show no mercy towards humanity. Once they established their foothold in the region, the Sand Eaters immediately launched an attack on Veridia—the first step in their occupation of the entire Red Sea Rift. However, Iron Lord Saladin led a squad of Lightbearer under the Iron Banner to Veridia. The Lightbearers' arrival would throw a massive wrench into the Sand Eaters' plans to occupy the Rift.

Torobatl[edit]

The home planet of the Cabal empire.

This used to be a wild, harsh planet. Boundless deserts and wastes composed its main continent, and landwhales large enough to devour entire cities swarm through its sea of sand, but ultimately, the Cabal conquered it. It's said that Torobatl was not the empire's first capital, but rather, the capital was moved here once a new emperor took the throne.

Legions[edit]

Units that make up the Cabal empire's military.

Following the race's unification, what were once Cabal tribes gradually evolved into legions. As a highly militarized society, these legions form the foundations of the Cabal empire's power. Each legion is led by a Primus, and depending on a legion's unique situation, the command structure also includes a number of deputy officers of different ranks, including Valus, Val, Bracus, and more. Some legions may even form sub-regiments.

Primus[edit]

The highest commander of a Cabal legion.

The Primus must coordinate and make decisions on all aspects of a legion's operations, including strategic planning, personnel appointments and dismissals, recruitment of new troops, and logistical support. They are top-notch warriors, as evidenced by their ability to wield the legion's most advanced weaponry, but a Primus does not typically appear on the front lines. They are heavily protected by their subordinates, for it a legion is without its Primus, its will inevitably fall into turmoil.

Valus[edit]

An executor of military orders at the command of the Primus.

If the Primus is the brains of a Canal legion, then the Valus is its strongest hand. These are the individuals actually fighting on the front lines and turning strategic goals into results. Once a Valus has fully demonstrated their abilities, they may become a candidate for Primus. This typically leads them to complete their missions by any means necessary.

Commanders[edit]

A non-standard position in a Cabal legion.

Although a Valus has the qualifications to appoint commanders as their own deputies, not all of them will do so. Some Valus believe doing so will contribute to favorable mission outcomes, while others believe that appointing deputies will weaken their authority. Commanders are usually only responsible for the execution of specific tactical objectives and do not have substantial power. Only in the absence of their Valus will they briefly be qualified to made decisions.

Firebases[edit]

The collective term for the military structures built by the Cabal in territories they occupy.

A firebase is usually managed by a Valus. The buildings forming the firebase are largely uniform and serves specific operational objectives, such as frontline defense, training, or logistical support.

Light-Suppressing Technology[edit]

A Cabal countermeasure that temporarily cuts off the connection between a Light-empowered entity and the Light itself.

The Cabal have encountered Light-empowered civilizations more than once during the expansion of their cosmic empire. To them, the Light is one of many entities in the universe, neither sacred nor mysterious, and capable of being countered through research.
