==Hive==

A race of terrifying, ancient alien arthropods.

Since the [[Golden Age/Rising|Golden Age]], there has been a legend circulating on [[Earth/Rising|Earth]]: "the [[Moon/Rising|Moon]]'s haunted." This legend may have originated from the tragic [[K1 Dig Site/Rising|K1 Dig Site]] accident, though [[Taketori Industry/Rising|Taketori Industry]] also discovered the chitinous shells of alien creatures during [[Project Lunarin/Rising|Project Lunarin]]. But throughout the Golden Age, no one came into contact with the Hive. But they are real, lurking beneath the surface, waiting for the day when they will finally emerge.

The Hive are creatures that live in symbiosis with the [[Worms/Rising|Worms]], beings aligned with a paracausal power. Their predecessors were the Krill, a group of weak arthropods with a lifespan of only 10 years on the planet of [[Fundament/Rising|Fundament]]. When they were still in the feudal era, their [[Osmium Court/Rising|Osmium Court]] suffered an invasion and was nearly wiped out. The kingdom's princesses fled into the depths on Fundament's oceans. There, they found [[Worm Gods/Rising|Worm Gods]] in captivity, and driven by a strong desire for revenge, they swallowed the Worms. Thus the Hive were born.

==Hidden Swarm==

A branch of the Hive led by Prince [[Crota/Rising|Crota]], the Eater of Hope.

Early on, when Crota was just born, [[Oryx/Rising|Oryx]] explained his purpose and duty to him. In his words, a false god known as the [[The Traveler/Rising|Traveler]] spread false hope throughout the universe, and it was the duty of the Hive to put an end to it. Years later, Crota, who had been promoted to prince, led his brood to the Moon. There, they took root and multiplied, ready to launch their destined attack on Earth.

==Worms==

The dielectric beings that connect the Hive with paracausal powers.

These ancient supernatural parasites are the medium through which the Hive connect with the power they now wield. Through a negotiation between the princesses of the Osmium Court and the Worm Gods, the Worms entered into a symbiotic relationship with the Krill, the species that would become the Hive. The parasites gain supernatural power through their hosts, while the Hive gain access to paracausal powers. However, the Worms' voracious appetites force the Hive to hunt constantly, making them a threat to all.

==Hive Princes==

The supreme rulers of the Hive.

Though they are given the title of prince, they are still just individuals with paracausal powers. Their power comes from a chain of tithes constructed paracausal magic, with one-tenth of the power gained by each Hive being paid in tribute to their superior. As such, the progenitors of the Hive—known then as the princesses of the Osmium Court—became the contemporary Hive's chief gods. Crota is the newest [[Hive Gods/Rising|Hive God]] to join the ever-growing pantheon.

The supreme rulers of the Hive.

Becoming a prince among the Hive requires the ability to create one's own [[Ascendant Realm/Rising|Throne World]]—"pocket universes" formed within the Ascendant Realm, which obey the laws and rules of their creator and house their soul. As long as a Hive God is not killed within their own Throne World, they can reappear in the material universe time and time again.

==Ascendant Realm==

A paraversal dimension related to certain paracausal powers.

The Ascendant Realm is a borderless space that usually exists as a Throne World.

Entities within the Ascendant Realm are variable and are maintained by their own willpower. Strong wills will turn into physical forms, creating bizarre and twisted scenes.

==Hive Runes==

An ideographic writing system used by the Hive.

These runes contain power from another dimension. Each carries a unique meaning, and together, they are capable of many impossible feats of magic, including prophecy (though the method of using them for foretelling one's future is currently unknown).

They are largely found on Hive architecture and ships. Although [[Human/Rising|humans]] have deciphered a few runes' meanings, they are continually discovering new ones.
