Call to the Past is the first Story Mission in the Paradox expansion of Destiny 2. Guardians must intercept a distress signal from the House of Devils to help AJ, the Relentless, Eris Morn, and Zavala stop a massive onslaught on Auradon.

A landing pod heads towards Mars's surface and lands. Astronauts leave the pod. The Astronauts explore the surface of Mars and find an enormous spherical object hovering above the surface. Meanwhile, the Light pulse emitted by the Traveler is seen passing over several locations, including Earth, the Moon, Mercury, Mars, The Reef, and finally, Saturn and the Dreadnaught, along with the rest of the Galaxy.
- Exo Stranger: In the beginning, there was only one...a single black infinitude. Then the infinitude found release, and finally, the darkness broke, filling it with life. With the Multiverse.
The camera fades in on a shot of the Traveler, panning down to the Tower in The Last City. The plaza is nearly overflowing with the allies of the Light, watching with reverence as the Guardian prepares to defend the City against the Darkness.
- Exo Stranger: Every existence multiplied by possibility, and spread out before space and time in infinite measure. Civilizations rose and fell, and rose again to cross realities grasping expanse. Life, a precious gift that took the form of the Traveler, persevering in the face of every obstacle, until finally, the age of heroes and Guardians was born.
The screen shifts to a series of daunting battles between the Guardians and their enemies, including the Spawn of Crota, House of Wolves, Oryx's Taken army, Devil Splicers, Red Legion, Grasp of Nokris, Scorn, Nightmares, House of Salvation, Wrathborn, Caiatl's Emissaries, Savathûn and her dark army, and the Black Fleet. Along the way, various series of archived footages can be seen depicting the endless battles between the forces of good and the forces of evil.
- Exo Stranger: Chaos, the constant enemy of life, kept at bay by champions from across the Multiverse. Joining forces to fight on behalf of all creation, they found each other just in time.
Cut to black.
- Exo Stranger: But then, the Darkness came.
(Music)
A wave of Light crashes against the Pyramid ships, fading to Anastasia Bray witnessing the apparent destruction of Rasputin at the hands of the Pyramids followed by Variks, the Loyal on Europa, a construction of the Europan Pyramid flying toward the hill, and Osiris staring at a portal showing him a dark future on Mercury.
- Exo Stranger: Ever since the deaths of its forces at the hands of our allies, the Pyramids scoured the entire universe, looking for a new champion to lead our enemies to victory...
The screen shifts to the Pyramids' attack on the Solar System, followed by Kirito and Asuna's immersion from the world of Sword Art Online into the Guardian's universe.
- Exo Stranger: Until one day, they found not one, but two... in the forms of Kirito and Asuna, teenage players from the world of Sword Art Online.
The camera fades in to the Iron Lords fighting against SIVA without success, which later shifts to Sachi dropping a wounded Supergirl from the rooftop edge, followed by Eobard Thawne impaling Nora Allen, Damien Darhk murdering Laurel Lance, Malcolm Merlyn donning the identity of the Dark Archer, and a massive spherical shockwave obliterating the clustered asteroids, Oryx's own fleet, and the Awoken armada.
- Exo Stranger: Ever since they came to our world, they've united all of our enemies with one goal: to annihilate the multiverse's heroes and bring an end to both the Light and the time of past heroes and villains alike.
As the Fallen Captain carrying the banner of an unknown House rallies its forces, the onslaught between the Ghosts of Nagasaki and the Royal Guards on Auradon shifts to a Villain Kid shrinking Carlos de Vil, Jay, Freddie Facilier, and Jane followed by Eris Morn encountering a hooded Phantom, Anna Blue throwing the mirror at another mirror, Cayde-6 fighting off the Fallen with his Hand Cannon and throwing knives, Mal falling under the dark influence of her birthright jewel, Ikora Rey and a squad of Guardians racing through on Sparrows, and the Guardians fighting against the forces of Darkness within the hearts of the Ascendant realm and the Black Garden.
- Exo Stranger: This isn't just my story and yours... it is also the story of a girl who vowed to avenge the deaths of her parents and became the Dragon Queen. While our stories are different, they all connect with one singular point: the path between Light and Darkness...
The Guardians are later shown entering the world of Aincrad.
- Exo Stranger: And it all begins...
