"Warlocks have long studied the Traveler, mastering some of its arcane energies. Its true purpose remains a great mystery, but discovering truth has always driven you into the unknown. Now, our enemies are the only thing that stands between you and the lost wonders of our Golden Age."
— Class description

The Warlock is a class of Guardian. Warlocks utilize powers given by the Traveler (or "magic") as a mode of attack. One example of this have been creating shields, as seen in one piece of concept art.

Abilities

All Guardians have certain abilities, some of which are granted by the Traveler, others which may appear more mundane in nature. All Guardians have a "grenade-type" ability whose effects vary by class.[1]. These abilities can be upgraded over time[2] and can be used in competetive PvP.[3]

The Warlock has at least 3 special abilities:[4]

  • Solar Flare: Conjure the power of the sun and release it like a grenade.[4] This has since been shown in the various E3 Gameplay demos to be an actual grenade.[5][1].
  • Nova Bomb: Channel some of the Traveler’s mysterious forces and unleash them in an explosive, large area-of-effect attack. When used, the user jumps and releases a large purplish blast from one of their hands.[4][1]
  • Glide: Summon the forces around you to increase and sustain elevation after jumping.[4] This is the Warlock's double-jump ability.

Trivia

In The Law Of The Jungle, the Warlock is seen about to perform an attack near the end of the trailer in which a ball of fire is held in between the hands. This may be a direct reference to the "Hadoken" attack of the Street Fighter franchise.
