The Hive fight straightfoward yet effective ways. Their main tactic is to send forth hordes of Thralls to force enemies out of cover, making them easy prey for the powerful weapons and abilities of Knight and Wizards. Thrall hordes are also often used to hide Cursed Thralls, or to protect the advance of Cleaver wielding Knights. Ogres charge in the front, attracting the enemy's attention, while Acolytes fill any gaps in the lines, providing suppressing fire from cover. They can also be found fighting alongside the Taken, who shore up their weak spots.
Hive mostly use Arc damage, with Thrall claws, Cursed explosions, Boomers and Darkness Blasts sporting this element. Their rapid fire attacks use Void damage. Solar damage weapons were only obtained in Destiny 2, with the Splinter and Acolyte Grenades. They are also the only race with a long range Kinetic attack, in the form of Poison Clouds.
Wizards use Solar Absorption Shields, and Knights gain Arc shields in high difficulty activities.
