Nokris lacks the physical strength of his father [[Oryx, the Taken King|Oryx]] and brother [[Crota, Son of Oryx|Crota]], but instead proves to be a knowledgeable and powerful sorcerer.
The disowned son appears to look down on his father, brother, and later [[Xol, Will of the Thousands|Xol]] after his god had abandoned him, stating to the [[The Guardian|Guardian]] that they were all gods with gods. But like his father Nokris has a hunger for knowledge and secrets, he would bargain with the [[Worms|Worm God]] [[Xol Will of the Thousands]] to learn and gain some of his power, including the secret of [[Necromancy]]. He would later bargain with his aunt [[Savathûn, the Witch Queen]] to learn how to [[Taken|Take]] by gaining access to [[Quria, Blade Transform|Quria]]. Like his aunt he is willing to use cunning and trickery, tricking fireteams of [[Guardians]] into slaughtering [[Hive]] so he could gain enough power to penetrate a hole into the [[Ascendant Realm|Sea of Screams]].
Unique among the [[Hive]] Nokris has a disgust for the [[Sword Logic]], he views it as a lie, and was willing to learn and use [[Necromancy]] despite it  being a violation of the logic that most [[Hive]] served without question. He appears to believe that the  [[Light]] and [[Darkness]] as forces that have strengths and weaknesses, stating that the [[Light]] was vast but shallow, and the [[Darkness]] was boundless but suffocating and that there is another way.
