Following Val Ca'uor's invasion, Emperor Calus ordered a Guardian response team to repel the Red Legion, offering further riches and rewards upon their success. The Guardians heeded the exiled emperor's call and ascended the Leviathan's spire, just as the acting commander destroyed one of Calus's robotic proxies. Upon confronting Ca'uor, the Guardians engaged the Red Legion's elite forces to prevent them from taking control of the Leviathan. Using the Leviathan's own formidable weapons, the Guardians managed to decimate the Red Legion fleet blockading the Spire and killed the acting commander in a climatic battle. In the wake of losing the majority of their fleet, their ground forces and leader, the Red Legion was forced to withdrawal in disgrace. Ca'uor's death would officially mark the effective end of the Red War.

Ca'uor's death would officially mark the effective end of the Red War.
Time Undone
Following Val Ca'uor's death, the Red Legion began to suffer even greater amounts of lowered morale, leading to mass desertion among its ranks. Some individuals, such as Garut Gra'am, rooted themselves in Lost Sectors to survive. However, a prominent group of deserters formed their own group, called the Unbowed Legion, made their debut in the EAZ in an attempt to take over the area as a base of operations. Despite the group being lead by three large Cabal commanders, they were quickly put to an end by the Guardians.
Despite suffering from desertions, the Red Legion began to make a reappearance some time following the Nightmare Hunts and of the Vex's Offensives on Luna. As a result of the Undying Mind's final destruction, the Timeways over Mercury have become undone, allowing anyone access into the Corridors of Time. A family of Psion Flayers took notice of this and sought to use such power to their advantage. Taking control of the Red Legion's remaining forces, the Psion Sisters commandeered the device called the Sundial, a creation of Osiris', in attempt to assume control over time itself. Their goal in using Osiris' creation was to alter time itself. As in, undo their defeat in the Red War at the hands of the Guardians. However, Osiris learned of the Red Legion's activities and, refusing to allow the timeways to be perverted, summons the Guardians to combat the Red Legion. The Guardians used the Sundial to confront and defeat the Psion Flayer masterminds, the sisters Niruul, the Hollow Voice, Ozletc, the Sky Piercer and Tazaroc, the Sun Eater. However, refusing to be defeated so easily, the three sisters combined together, creating Inotam, Oblivion's Triune to defeat the Guardians. Despite Inotam's power, the Guardians prevailed, stopping the Red Legion from assuming control over time itself.
Broken Almighty
Though the Guardians succeeded in defeating the Red Legion on Mercury, a final Psion sister remains, Amtec. Desiring vengeance in the name of her sisters and leaving nothing to chance, she and a Red Legion force breach The Almighty and sabotage the vessel, destroying its navigation systems and engine coupling, despite the efforts of Zavala and Ana Bray. The Almighty was then left adrift but with an intended target: the Last City on Earth.
Unable to divert or destroy The Almighty, the Vanguard is forced to cooperate with the ancient Warmind Rasputin, the only entity that has the technology and power to possibly save the Guardians' home from destruction. The Guardians then work with the Warmind in activating his Seraph Bunkers across the system to activate and weaponize Rasputin's systems to hopefully find a away to stop The Almighty.
