However, Calus's demise would ultimately turn out to be exactly what The Witness wanted. As The Guardian had unintentionally brought their ghost too close to the Veil and, while everyone was distracted by the death of the Emperor, the Witness would yet again take possession of the Guardian's ghost and use it to create the link between the Veil and [[The Traveler]], allowing The Witness to open the way into [[The Pale Heart]] and finally bring about The [[Final Shape]].
