(Mission Begins)

  • Ghost: Variks, we’re here. Heading in after Eramis now.
  • Variks: The portal within. It was built in your Golden Age to study Vex. But Vex escaped. Murdered many. You must hurry. Devastation is all we face if Eramis opens that portal.
  • Ghost: We’re on it.

Fallen Skiffs deploy Fallen reinforcements in the Nexus.

  • Eramis: Hello, pawn. It’s no surprise to find you here.
  • Variks: Eramis, you must not do this! Do you not care for our people?
  • Eramis: Far more than you know, traitor.

The Guardian defeat the nearby Fallen and disable their barrier, moving deeper into the Nexus.

  • Eramis: Tell me, Variks. Was it not you that tortured and murdered Eliksni in the Prison of Elders?
  • Variks: Variks is —
  • Eramis: A hypocrite? Yes. At least here they die for a cause.

Warrior's Enforcer appears and defeated by the Guardians. Another Fallen barrier is disabled.

  • Variks: You are a monster if you do this.
  • Eramis: I’m no monster. What I do, I do for the future of our people.
  • Variks: Open that portal, and you kill them all!
  • Eramis: Many will die, yes. But more shall live.

Technocrat's Assistant appears and defeated by the Guardians. Another Fallen barrier is disabled.

  • Eramis: Our world died, Variks. Do you recall? We were absolutely powerless to stop it. I tried everything I put it behind me. To move on. But in my head, I could not silence the collective cries of our injured and dying. But then… Darkness presented itself. And I took it. Finally, Variks — finally, I felt I could do something. So go ahead. Call me a monster. But do not doubt that what I do, I do for the future of our people.

The Guardian battle more waves of Fallen reinforcements, as they drain the Radiolarian Fluid to clear their path to the Vex portal.

  • Eramis: Believing all this, the desperate plan of a Kell gone mad, rather than a step towards absolution. Let’s call it justice. For spilling the blood of worthy Eliksni and taking what was rightfully mine.
  • Variks: [wheezes] Eramis has always been brash, but this… [insect-like chattering] is different. The Darkness pervades her mind and spirit.
  • Ghost: We’ll stop her, Variks. We have to.

The Guardians reach the Vex portal built by Clovis Bray I.

  • Eramis: Poor foolish pawn. This time, I made you into one of my own.

Eramis, Kell of Darkness appears and retreats to a Skiff and flees.

  • Ghost: There she is!
  • Eramis: Unfortunately, you’re too late. I’ll just have to eviscerate you another day. If you make it out alive.

The Vex portal activates.
Transcendent Hydra arrives.
Belmon, Transcendent Mind also arrives.

  • Ghost: The portal — it’s on!

Belmon and Transcendent Hydra return to the Void. The Guardians finally defeat Belmon, Transcendent Mind and Transcendent Hydra. The nearby pool of Radiolarian Fluid is drained.

  • Ghost: Wait — where is all that radiolarian fluid going?
  • Variks: Eramis… what have you done?

  • Ghost: We're here, Stranger.
  • Exo Stranger: We're not strangers anymore, Little Light. You can call me Elsie. Or Elisabeth. Whatever works.
  • Ghost: Okay. Elisabeth it is. And once again, I prefer Ghost.

  • Ghost: Okay. Elisabeth it is. And once again, I prefer Ghost.
  • Ghost: So what's our plan?
  • Exo Stranger: Despite our best efforts, the Vex gate within remains active thanks to Eramis. Destroying it loses us a vital link to the Vex... a story for another time, perhaps. For now, we need to focus on stopping any further incursions from the portal.
  • Ghost: Understood. We'll take care of it.

Fallen Skiffs deploy reinforcements in the Nexus. Warrior's Enforcer and Technocrat's Assistant are defeated.

  • Ghost: Elisabeth, you must know why Clovis built the portal.
  • Exo Stranger: Greed. Obsession. This list is long. If you asked him, he would have told you he was "saving humanity." Collecting the radiolarian fluid from the Vex that came through was the prime purpose. I wanted it shut down. Clovis wouldn't have it. Once again, he flew too close to the sun, and once again, the rest of us paid for it. Bastard.

Or alternatively

  • Ghost: Here we are again, cleaning up another of Clovis Bray's messes.
  • Exo Stranger: I'm sure wherever he is, he's laughing at us. He's the reason all this is here in the first place. The Darkness "told" him to build the portal. It's his fault the Vex invaded. He fault so many people died... I did everything I could. It still wasn't enough.
  • Ghost: There's no use in quantifying the help you give. Any amount is enough. You've done far more than most.
  • Exo Stranger: And it's only just begun, Little Light.

The Guardians reach the Vex portal built by Clovis Bray I.

  • Ghost: We've reached the portal.
  • Exo Stranger: You know what to do.

Or alternatively

  • Ghost: Here they come.
  • Exo Stranger: Don't let even a single one escape.

The Vex portal activates.
Transcendent Hydra arrives.
Belmon, Transcendent Mind also arrives.
Belmon and Transcendent Hydra are defeated.

  • Ghost: The Vex are down for the count.
  • Exo Stranger: Good riddance. Evil bastards. Until next time.

Or alternatively

  • Exo Stranger: We're safe for now, but they'll be back again in no time.
  • Ghost: You know where to find us when they do.
  • Exo Stranger: I do indeed. Thanks again.

Trivia

  • There was an unreleased emblem added to the game files in Beyond Light, called "The Glassway". It was probably meant as a reward for completing the strike, but in April 2021 it got deleted from the API.[1]
